David L. Burkett<br />

Jan. 17, 1932 - May 21, <strong>1996</strong><br />

David L. BURKETT, 64, Buckeye, Ariz., formerly of Talma, died at 11:25 a.m. on<br />

Tuesday at Hospice Family Care, Sun City, Ariz. He was born in <strong>Rochester</strong> to Norman and Helen<br />

MILLER BURKETT and married Shirley ADAMS in 1953. He owned and operated Burkett’s<br />

Store in Talma for 16 years and was a retired postal carrier from the <strong>Rochester</strong> Post Office, where<br />

he worked for 25 years. He was a member of the Rivervidw Community Church, Talma, the<br />

Newcastle Lion’s Club, the American Legion and VFW, <strong>Rochester</strong>.<br />

He was a Trustee for Newcastle Township for four years and a Tippecanoe Valley School<br />

Board Member for four years. He was a retired United States Marine Corps Warrant Officer and<br />

Korean War veteran.<br />

Preceding him in death are his father, Norman BURKETT, and one brother, Bill<br />

BURKETT.<br />

Surviving are his wife, Shirley J. BURKETT; three daughters, Sharon LINDENLAUB,<br />

Litchfield Park, Ariz., Lisa GOODMAN, <strong>Rochester</strong>, Lee Ann McDONALD, Clermont, Fla.; four<br />

granddaughters and two grandsons; mother, Helen BURKETT, Palmyra, N.Y.; one sister, Marcia<br />

ROBBINS, Palmyra, N.Y.; two brothers, Dick BURKETT and his wife Belva, Plainfield, and<br />

Tom BURKETT, Burlington, Wis.<br />

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Riverview Communty Church, Talma, with the Rev.<br />

Rodney RUBERG officiating. Burial will be at the Athens Cemetery. <strong>The</strong> American Legion and<br />

VFW will conduct graveside rites. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Foster & Good<br />

Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until services Saturday at Riverview Community Church.<br />

Memorials may be made to Hospice Family Care in Sun Valley, Ariz.<br />

James G. McClain<br />

December 4, 1920 - May 21, <strong>1996</strong><br />

James G. McCLAIN, 75, South Bend, died at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday at his residence.<br />

Born in Sharpesville to Glen J. and Alice RUST McCLAIN, he married Helen ROJICS in<br />

1939. He retired from Bendix Corp., South Bend, in 1974, after 33 years. He was a union steward<br />

for 24 years and served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during World War II.<br />

Surviving are his wife Helen McCLAIN; one son, James D. McCLAIN, South Bend;<br />

three grandsons, James D and Jayme D. JONES, Mixh. and Jerry D. McCLAIN, South Bend; four<br />

great-grandchildren; one half-brother, Robert PURDOM, Summerfield, Fla.; and several cousins.<br />

Services will be 10 a.m.Friday at Grossma Funeral Home, Argos, with Pastor Robert<br />

MACE officiating. Burial will be at [the Athens] Cemetery. [<strong>The</strong> American Legion and VFW<br />

will conduct graveside rites]. Friends may call at the [Foster & Good Funeral home from 5-8 p.m.<br />
