Julia Ann “Judy” DAY, 66, 120 N. Mishawaka St., Akron, died at 4:10 p.m. Thursday at<br />

her residece.<br />

She was born in Roann to Joseph and Mary CRIST BIDWELL. On Sept. 4, 1947, in<br />

Indianapolis, she married Richard E. DAY, who survives. While growing up, she spent a great<br />

deal of time with her parent’s best friends, Noble and Ina TOMBAUGH of Roann, who she<br />

considered her second parents. She was the co-owner of Day hardware, Akron. She was active in<br />

the Republican Party, going to the State Convention as a delegate several times and had been an<br />

alternate to the National Convention in 1984.<br />

She was past president of Tribal Trails Girl Scout Council, a former precinct<br />

commtteeman, member of the Akron United Methodist Church, past president of Kappa Dalta Phi<br />

Sorority, and member of the Akron Chamber of Commerce.<br />

Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Mrs. Jim (Pamela) VANDERMARK,<br />

Akron; one son, Joseph and wife Marianne DAY, Akron; five grandchildren, Mrs. Rick (Leann)<br />

HILE, David MADEFORD, Scott and Kevin COOKSEY, and Patrick DAY; two stepgrandchildren,<br />

Jared and David VANDEERMAEK; one great-grandson, Joseph DEVIN; one<br />

brother, Leon and wife Betty BIDWELL, Estero, Fla.; and four nieces, Sherri FORD, Nashville;<br />

Tara HORNBACHER, Pleasant Hill, Ohio; Linda SAMPSON, Wabash; and Janet BOYD, Des<br />

Moines, Iowa.<br />

Services will be at 1 p.m Sunday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with the Revs. Mark<br />

BERG and Tara HORNBACHER officiating. Burial will be in the Akron Cemetery. Friends may<br />

call from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Akron United<br />

Methodist Church or Henry Township Fire Department.
