Joseph Engle MEISER, 83, formerly of Rochester, died at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at
Highland Springs Geeral Hospital, Sebring, Fla.
Born in Blytheville, Ark. to Joe and Jennie ENGLE MEISER, he married Audrey May
WEAVER on Jan. 19, 1941 in Rochester. She preceded him in death on Sept. 25, 1994. He has
been a resident of Sebring, Fa. for the past 12 years having come from Hudson, Fla. Prior to that
he had resided near Rochester. Along with his brother, he owned and operated Meiser’s
Excavating business, Rochester, until retirig in 1975.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Rochester. During Word War
II he served in the U.S. Army Air Force in the China-Burma Theater.
Surviving are one daughter, Jo Anne KAY, Sebring, Fla.; one granddaughter, Heather
KAY, Sebring, Fla.; two sisters, Helen COX, Plymouth, and Dorothy McPHERSON, Lexington,
Tenn.; one brother, Harold MEISER and his wife Milly, Rochester; one brother-in-law, Arthur
WEAVER and his wife Dorothy, Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m Monday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with
Rev. David HOGSETT officiating. Burial will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Rochester, and
visitation will be from 2-6 p.m Sunday and one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Wayne R. Atkinson
July 6, 1916 - June 26, 1996
Wayne R. ATKINSON, 79, Rochester, died at 12:08 Wednesday at Rochester Health
Care Center.
Born in Centerville, Iowa to Frank and Margaret ATKINSON, he married Barbara
DENISTON. She preceded him in death. He then married Joan HEETER on June 4, 1949 She
survives. He lived in Rochester for the past 60 years. He was a retired sales representative with
the Terry Berry Company and Inter-Collegiate Press. He was a member of the First Presbyterian
Church, the Manitou Moose Lodge, and the Elks Lodge, all of Rochester.
Preceding him in death were one sister, Lena LOVE.
Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Patricia CUNNINGHAM, Harper Woods,
Mich.; two sons Michael L. ATKINSON, Willis, Texas, and Thomas M. ATKINSON, Rochester;
seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Private services will be Friday at the Zimmerman Family Funeral Home with Rev. Robert
KRYTZER officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Athens.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
