June 12, 1919 - July 13, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Charlotte Evelyn REED, 77, Twelve Mile, died at 9:55 a.m. Saturday at Michigan<br />

Capitol Medical Center, Lansing, Mich.<br />

Born in Twelve Mile to Horace and Nellie VORHEES PUTERBAUGH, she married<br />

John Everett REED. He preceded her in death in 1951. She was a self-employed cosmetologist<br />

and beautician and a retired employee of the Sherrill Corp., Mexico. She was a member of the<br />

Bethlehem United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, Twelve Mile.<br />

Preceding in death, with her husband, were two sisters, Mary PUTERBAUGH and Eva<br />

LAMB; and three half-brothers, Harold SHOCK, Frank PUTERBAUGH and Max PUTERAUGH.<br />

Surviving are one daughter, Mary K. DeLONG, Springport, Mich.; one son, Richard L.<br />

REED, Los Angeles, Calif.; two grandchildren, Gina Louise WILSON and Eric David DeLONG;<br />

one great-grandson, Chandler David DeLONG; and one brother, Horace L. PUTERBAUGH II,<br />

Maryland.<br />

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, with Rev.<br />

Judy ADAMS officiating. Burial will be at the Bethlehem Cemetery, Twelve Mile, and visitation<br />

will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.<br />

Oct. 17, 1911 - July 16, <strong>1996</strong><br />

<strong>The</strong> second fatal traffic accident along U.S. 31 this month claimed the life of a Macy<br />

woman Tuesday. Edith M TILDEN, 84, Macy, died at Woodlawn Hospital from injuries received<br />

in a 9:20 a.m. accident at U.S. 31 and Old U.S. 31` Tuesday.<br />

Police say Tilden was heading toward <strong>Rochester</strong> on Old U.S. 31 when she was hit by a<br />

truck drive by Stephen M. LAWLESS, 41, Howard City, Mich.<br />

Lawless told police he was northbound on U.S. 31 and Tilden slowed but did not stop at<br />

the median She then continued into his lane, he said. Lawless said he swerved, but was unable to<br />

avoid her.<br />

Tilden is the sixth traffic accident fatality in <strong>Fulton</strong> <strong>County</strong> this year.<br />

On July 3 a car driven by Harold B. WILSON, 87, LaPorte, left the road, hit an<br />

embankment at the Tippecanoe River, became airborne and landed near the riverbank.<br />

Edith M. TILDEN, 84, Macy, died at 10:04 a.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Hosptal.<br />

Born in Miami <strong>County</strong> to Elmer and Margaret DAY HARTZLER, she married Henry L.<br />

TILDEN July 19, 1930 in <strong>Rochester</strong>. He preceded her in death Jan. 17, 1993. She was a cook at<br />

North Miami Elementary School for 11 years and a homemaker. She was a member of the<br />

Emmanuel Church and attended Deedsville United Methodist Church.<br />

Preceding her in death with her husband were one son, Ronald TILDEN and one sister,<br />

Evelyn STALLARD.<br />

Surviving are one son, Dennis TILDEN and his wife Marquita, Macy; one grandson,<br />

Jeffrey D. TILDEN, Greentown, and one sister, [Mrs.] Estel (Opal) FLENNER, <strong>Rochester</strong>.<br />

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with Rev. Rick<br />

STONE officiatng. Burial will be at Enterprise [Tombaugh] Cemetery, Roann. Visitation will be<br />

from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
