Roy E. MEREDITH, 90, formerly of Akron, died at 8:10 p.m Friday at the LaPorte
Hospital, LaPorte.
He was born in Kosciusko County to Elmer Earl ad Bertha LAIRD MEREDITH. In
1933 he married Evelyn BLESCH She survives. He was an education administrator, teacher and
principal in Rossville, Illinois He was a teacher and principal for 20 years at Akron High School.
He was also assistant superintendent at Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation for eight years. He
was a member of the Mentone Church of Christ He was a charter member of the Akron Lions
Club, to which he belonged for 65 years. A past president of the Fulton County Hospital
Association, he was a member of Phi Delta Kappa. He was a World War II veteran, a past
member of the Akron Chamber of Commerce and an Indiana University graduate.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn [MEREDITH]; one daughter, Marcia MORRIS, LaPorte;
one son, John MEREDITH, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Akron Cemetery with Dr.
William WIMBERLY officiating Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m on Tuesday at the Hartzler
Funeral Home, Akron.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Mentone Church of Christ, Akron United
Methodist Church or the charity of choice.
Dustin Elsworth Brodbent

Dustin Elsworth BRODBENT, infant son of Glenn and Lavon STEPHENS BRODBENT,
died at 2:30 a.m. Friday at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
Surviving with his parents are grandparents Milford and Virgina STEPHENS, Claypool,
and Glenn Jr. and Elsie E. BRODBENT, Plymouth; great-grandparents, Lilly AULT, Akron and
Lester BRUNER, Warsaw.
Services will be 1 p.m on Wednesday at the New Oakhill Cemetery Chapel with Billy
STEELE officiating.
