March 4, 1895 - March 7, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Rose M. CLAY, 101, formerly of 719 Madison St., died at 1 a.m today at Life Care<br />

Center of <strong>Rochester</strong>.<br />

She was born in Logansport to Peter and Emily THOMA WASOSKI. In July, 1916, at<br />

South Bend, she married Edgar CLAY, who died in July, 1967. She was a retired employee of the<br />

former Karn Coffee Shop, <strong>Rochester</strong>, and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.<br />

Survivors are one daughter, Marjorie NIXON, <strong>Rochester</strong>; one son, Herbert W. CLAY Sr.,<br />

Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren; fourteen great-gradchildren; and six great-great-grandchldren<br />

Preceding in death were one great-grandson, Patrick WALTERS; five brothers and three sisters.<br />

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m Saturday at the <strong>Rochester</strong> I.O.O.F. Cemetery, with the<br />

Rev. Donald BRENNEMAN officiating. <strong>The</strong>re will be no visitation.<br />

Zimmerman Family Funeral Home, <strong>Rochester</strong>, is in charge of the arrangements.<br />

Vernon Sullivan<br />

Oct. 27, 1923 - March 7, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Vernon “Jay” SULIVAN, 72, Twelve Mile, died at 3:20 a.m today at Memorial Hospital,<br />

Logansport.<br />

He was born in Twelve Mile to Milo and Cora D BLACK SULLIVAN. On Jan. 2, 1948,<br />

in Logansport, he married Mabel L CRILL, who survives. He retired as a Conrail conductor on<br />

June 17, 1983, after 33 years. He was a member of the Corinth Brethren Church, American<br />

Legion Post No. 60, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3790, Logansport Eagles Lodge No. 323,<br />

and the United Transportation Union. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.<br />

Surviving with his wife are one son, Mike and wife Shelia RUNKLE, Bahama, N.C.; six<br />

grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Marion M. SULLIVAN, Wilton, Ark.; and<br />

several nieces and nephews. Preceding in death were two sisters.<br />

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral<br />

Home, Logansport, with the Rev. Donald RUHL officiatig. Burial will be in the Corinth<br />

Cemetery, Twelve Mile. Graveside full military rites will be conducted by the American Legion<br />

and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Logansport, and the Walton American Legion. Friends may call<br />

from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
