Sept. 11, 1921 - June 16, <strong>1996</strong><br />

F. Leroy CRIPPEN, 74, 7746 S. Indiana 17, Kewanna, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at<br />

<strong>Rochester</strong> Health Care Center.<br />

Born in Cass <strong>County</strong> to D.K. and Marie CORNELL CRIPPEN, he married Vivian<br />

APPLEGATE in Grass Creek on June 26, 1945. She survives. He was a dairy farmer, retiring in<br />

1983, and also worked for the county Highway Department for 2 1/2 years. He was a member of<br />

the Grass Creek United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday school superintendent and<br />

teacher for over 30 years. He was also a member of the Good News Quartet, <strong>Rochester</strong> American<br />

Legion No. 36, a former member of the Grass Creek and <strong>Fulton</strong> <strong>County</strong> Fire Department, Wayne<br />

Township Trustee 1967-1970, <strong>Fulton</strong> <strong>County</strong> Commissioner 1973-1976, secretary of the Caston<br />

Holding Corp., and former chairman of the Wabash Solid Waste District. He is a World War II<br />

veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees, serving on Guadalcanal from 1942-1945. He graduated from<br />

Grass Creek High School in 1939 and attended Wabash College.<br />

Preceding him in death were one son, Edward [CRIPPEN], and one brother, Leon<br />

[CRIPPEN].<br />

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Shirley A. CRIPPEN, Grass Creek, and Jean<br />

E. ROCK and her husband, Richard, Grass Creek; one brother, Charles CRIPPEN, <strong>Rochester</strong>; six<br />

grandchildren, Art, Andy and Carrie CRIPPEN, and Tammy, Sandy and Kelly ROCK.<br />

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Grass Creek United Methodist Church with<br />

Rev. Don REED officiating Burial and graveside military services will be at the Grass Creek<br />

Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Kewanna<br />

Chapel, and one hour prior to services at the church.<br />

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Grass Creek United Methodist Church.<br />

Wilma G. Holloway<br />

Sept. 28, 1919 - June 17, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Wilma G. HOLLOWAY, 76, Akron, died at 9:26 a.m. Monday at Woodlawn Hospital.<br />

Born in Florida, she married Harold SCOTT Octoer 19, 1939. He died in November of<br />

1984. She married Carlyle HOLLOWAY on April 15, 1989. He survives. She had worked at<br />

Zimmers in Warsaw, and also was a homemaker. She was a member of the Akron Church of the<br />

Brethren and its Women’s Fellowship.<br />

Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Dorothy RING, Claypool; one son, George<br />

SCOTT and his wife Jane, Mansfield, Ohio; three grandsons; one granddaughter; one stepdaughter,<br />

Cindy KENNEDY, Orlando, Fla.; and one step-grandson.<br />

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with the Revs.<br />

John MISHLER and Olden MITCHELL officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery,<br />

Warsaw, and visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.<br />

Memorials may be made to the Heart or Cancer Fund and the Akron Church of the<br />

Brethren.
