Oct. 2, 1949 - July 25, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Francis V. “Butch” HEATER Jr., 46, Kewanna, died at 12:51 p.m. Thursday at Pulaski<br />

Memorial Hospital.<br />

Born in Logansport to Francis V. Sr., and Ellen Jane MINTHORN HEATER, he married<br />

Sandra HARNESS on Feb. 14, 1972 in Monticello. She survives. He was a 1970 graduate of<br />

Winamac High School and the owner of Sandy’s Firewood Service Inc., Kewanna. He was also<br />

an experimental flower grower and a member of the National Rifle Association.<br />

Preceding him in death were one son, one daughrter, and his father.<br />

Surviving with his wife are his mother, Ellen Jane HEATER, Lakeville; one step-son,<br />

Franklin GROSS, Kewanna; one son, Raymond HEATER, Kewanna; one daughter, Tanya<br />

HEATER, Culver; two brothers, James HEATER, Logansport; John HEATER, Lakeville; three<br />

sisters, Cathy LOOKER, Logansport, Mary DOTY, Monterey, and Bonnie ROWLANDS,<br />

Monticello; and two step-grandchildren.<br />

No services are planned. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the Harrison-Metzger<br />

Funeral Home, Kewanna.<br />

Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Hospital Research Department, Fort Wayne.<br />

Ersa M. Sommers<br />

June 11, 1903 - July 26, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Ersa M. SOMMERS, 93, Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home, Logansport, died at 5:25<br />

a.m. Friday. She was formerly of Rt. 2, Kewanna.<br />

She was born in Kewanna to Alvah and Melissa FULLER CRABB. On Aug. 12, 1928 at<br />

the Kewanna Baptist church she married Herold I. SOMMERS who died Feb. 6, 1981. She<br />

graduated from Kewanna High School and was a member of the Grass Creek United Methodist<br />

Church and the missionary society of the church. She was a homemaker and 50-year member of<br />

the Wayne Frendly Extension Homemakers. She liked to knit, crochet, do craft and work in her<br />

garden.<br />

Surviving are one daughter, Charlotte SCHNAPF, Royal Center; one grandson, Gary<br />

SCHNAPF, Royal Center, and one half-brother, Al CRABB, Washington, D.C. Preceding in<br />

death were one brother and two sisters.<br />

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Kewanna<br />

Chapel, with the Rev. Don REED officiating. Burial will be in the Grass Creek Cemetery.<br />

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to the<br />

Grass Creek United Methodist Church and the missionary society.
