Orville E. RENFROE, 84, Mexico, formerly of Macy, died at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday at
his Mexico residence.
Born in Frankfort, Ky., to Joseph D. and Rosa May WILSON RENFROE, he married
Dessie G. EDWARDS on Dec. 16, 1931 in Muncie; she died June 6, 1993. He then married Jean
BURKETT WALTERS on Dec. 30, 1993 in Macy; she survives. He had lived most of his life in
Miami County and was retired from Sealed Power Corp., Rochester. He was a member of Macy
United Methodist Church and the United Auto Workers 721.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Don (Marsha) KOONS,
Kalamazoo, Mich., Mrs. Harold (Georgia) TOWNSEND, Indianapolis, Mrs. Richard (Cora)
REESE, Denver; ten grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; a step-daughter, Mrs. John
(Diana) ANSPACH, Logansport, a step-son, Joe WALTERS, Mentone, four step-grandchildren
and five step-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Myron (Kathaleen) WILSON, Hopkins,
Minn. He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter [RENFROE].
Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Zimmerman Family Funeral Home, Rochester,
with the Revs. Juanita KUHN, David WELSH and Rev. Jack PAVEY officiating. Burial will be
at the Ever-Rest Cemetery, Logansport. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Friday, and one hour prior to
services Saturday at the funeral home.
Cyrus R. Peabody
Jan. 26, 1922 - Oct. 9, 1996
Cyrus Roy “Butch” PEABODY, 74, Plymouth, died at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday at his
residence. He had been in failing health for four years.
Born in Argos to Guy and Vira BEAUCHAMP PEABODY, he married Betty Mae
STEINER on April 7, 1946 in Plymouth. She survives. He was a 1941 graduate of Argos High
School and a veteran of WW II, serving with the 338th Engineers Battalion. A former federal
employee he had worked for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy. He returned to Plymouth in 1984
from O’Fallon, Mo. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Plymouth, where he
served as an usher and on the board of directors. He was a member of the Disabled American
Veterans, American Legion, Bourbon, where he served as the Post Chaplain and was also
Chaplain for the 40 & 8.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Phyllis ROSE, Florence, S.C., a son
Duane Roy and wife Kay PEABODY, Laurel, Md., four grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren,
two sisters, Mrs. Gordon (Bernice) SWIHART, Tippecanoe, Mrs. Harold (Mary
Louise) JOHNSON, Tippecanoe and a brother, Wallace PEABODY, Mishawaka. He was
preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Pearl JOHNSON.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, Plymouth, with
the Rev. Al KUNDENREICH ad Rev. Wes BROOKSHIRE officiating. Burial will be in Maple
Grove Cemetery, Argos. Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Grossman Funeral
Home, Argos, or one hour before services at the church.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Plymouth, or the Marshall
County Hospice.
