James Coplen<br />

April 29, 1931 - Sept. 3, <strong>1996</strong><br />

James “Sam” COPLEN, 65, Tippecanoe, died at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at his residence.<br />

Born in Kosciusko <strong>County</strong> to Ray and Flossie JEFFERIES COPLEN, he married Lena<br />

FISHER FILLOFF at Tippecanoe. He was a lifetime area resident and worked as a shipping clerk<br />

for Owens Illinois, Warsaw, for 33 years. He served as an officer of the American Flint Glass<br />

Workers Union on both the local and national levels as well as receiving an award as the first<br />

lifetime member of FGWU local 614 for 32 years of service. He was a Korean Army veteran and<br />

a member of the American Legion Post 49, Warsaw; a member of the Indiana Sheriff’s<br />

Association, a lifetime member of he National Rifle Association, and held a lifetime hunting<br />

license.<br />

Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Connie) HENSLEY, Argos,<br />

Mrs. Steve (Sandra) READ, Plymouth, Mrs. Tim (Jayne) GANSHORN, Etna Green; six<br />

gradchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are a sister, Ann COOPER, Keystone Hts.,<br />

Fla., and two brothers, Joseph KARNS, Lincoln, Neb., and John COPLEN, South Bend. He was<br />

preceded in death by one son, Douglas James COPLEN.<br />

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at King Memorial Home, Mentone, with Pastors Tom<br />

PADBERG and Bill HALL officiating. Burial will be at Tippecanoe Cemetery. Visitation will be<br />

from 2-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday.<br />

Memorial contributions may be made to the Marshall <strong>County</strong> Hospice.<br />

L. Margaret Gough<br />

May 19, 1904 - Sept 3, <strong>1996</strong><br />

L. Margaret GOUGH, 92, formerly of New York City, died at 1 p.m Tuesday at the Life<br />

Care Center, <strong>Rochester</strong>.<br />

Born in Greencastle to Earl and Elizabeth Ann SHOEMAKER NEWTON she married<br />

William GOUGH on June 1, 1941 in Chicago. He died Nov. 23, 1969 She was an administrative<br />

staff assistant with the U.S. Civil Service and a former secretary/treasurer of her senior citizens<br />

group in New York City. She moved to this area in 1978.<br />

She is survived by a brother, Albert NEWTON, of Roachdale, and several nieces ad<br />

nephews, including Maggie DORAN of <strong>Rochester</strong>.<br />

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters.<br />

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Zimmerman Family Funeral Home, <strong>Rochester</strong>,<br />

with the Rev. Robert STOREY officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at<br />

Roachdale Cemetery. Visittion is from 5-8 p.m Thursday and after 9 a.m until services on Friday<br />

Cecil E. SILVEUS, 77, Silver Lake, died at 9 a.m. today at Peabody Memorial Home,<br />

North Manchester, following an illness. Arrangements are pending at Foster & Good Funeral<br />

Home, Akron.
