Aug. 24, 1905 - Feb. 25, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Edward PFLEDDERER, 90, 4508 West and 100 South, Kewanna, died at 8:25 a.m.<br />

Sunday at <strong>Rochester</strong> Life Care Center, where he had resided for the past six weeks.<br />

He was born in Cisney Park, Ill., to Adam and Caroline REMM PFLEDDERER. In<br />

1933, he married Orpha L. PRATT, who preceded him in death. On Jan.20, 1965, he married<br />

Bertha BEAIRD, who died on Dec. 7, 1987. He had been a resident of Kewanna since 1960,<br />

having come from LaCrosse. He retired from farming in 1984 and attended the First Church of<br />

God, <strong>Rochester</strong>.<br />

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Garland (Barbara) WILSON, Kewaa; and Mrs. Betty<br />

BRADY, Athens; three sons, Kenneth and wife Karen PFLEDDERER, LaCrosse; Jerry and wife<br />

Nancy PFLEDDERER, Wnatah; and Jack and wife Reba PFLEDDERER, <strong>Rochester</strong>; several<br />

grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Marie MERVINE, Kouts;<br />

Lizzie PFLEDDERER, Francesville; and Mrs. John (Lydia) HORAK, Valparaiso. Mr. Pfledderer<br />

was one of a family of 18 children.<br />

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at he First Church of God, <strong>Rochester</strong>, with the<br />

Revs. Samuel BENNETT and Leonard JACKSON officiating. Burial will be in the <strong>Rochester</strong><br />

I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Foster & Good Funeral Home,<br />

<strong>Rochester</strong>, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.<br />

Betty M. Starkey<br />

Sept. 18, 1925 - Feb. 25, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Betty Marcelle STARKEY, 70, Rt. 4, Peru, died at 11 a.m. Sunday at Miller’s Merry<br />

Manor Nursing Home, Peru.<br />

She was born in South Bend to Adelbert and Jessie FUNK ALWINE. On July 17, 1943,<br />

she married H. Gene STARKEY, who survives She was a retired cook, homemaker and mother.<br />

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Peru, member and past president of the Veterans of<br />

Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 2067, member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Moose<br />

Lodge Auxiliary, Home Economics Club and Miami <strong>County</strong> 4-H Fair Board.<br />

Surviving with her husband are three sons, David and Dean STARKEY, both of Peru;<br />

and Danny STARKEY, <strong>Rochester</strong>; three daughers, Sandra WARD, Mexico; Shirley CLARK,<br />

O’Fallon, Ill.; and Sherri JOHNSON, Peru; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three<br />

brothers, Marvin ALWINE, Fort Wayne; Jim ALWINE, Edwrdsvile, Ill.; and John ALWINE,<br />

Buxton, N.C.; and three sisters, Mary ALWINE, Fort Wayne; Donna ALWINE, South Bend; and<br />

Marilyn MATHIAS, Fancy Gap, Va. Preceding in death was one grandchid and one brother, Bob<br />

ALWINE.<br />

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru, with the<br />

Rev. Dean FAGER officiating. Burial will be in the Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, Cass<br />

<strong>County</strong>. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.<br />

Memorials may be ade to the American Cancer Society.
