survives. He served with the U.S. Army from 1991 to 1995 and was a counselor at Four <strong>County</strong><br />

Counseling Center.<br />

In addition to his wife Cindy, New York City, he is survived by three sons, John E.,<br />

Michael A and Nicklaus W. DILTS, all of New York City; his parents Will and Virginia DILTS,<br />

<strong>Fulton</strong>; two sisters Mrs. Andy (Michelle) SKILES, Wabash; Crystal DILTS, <strong>Fulton</strong>; and maternal<br />

grandmother Mrs. Pearl TAYLOR, Twelve Mile. He was preceded in death by his maternal<br />

grandfather and paternal grandparents.<br />

Private graveside rites will be held at a later date in the <strong>Fulton</strong> Cemetery, with Rev.<br />

George TROYER officiating. <strong>The</strong>re is no visitation. Zimmerman Family Funeral Home, <strong>Fulton</strong>,<br />

is in charge of arrangements.<br />

John McQueary<br />

Feb. 8, 1954 - Dec. 2, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Police, firefighters and medics responded to a call at 1:45 p.m. to the Steve Moor<br />

Insurance Agency, 817 E. East 9th Street, where electrician John R. McQUEARY, Sr., 42,<br />

<strong>Rochester</strong>, died in the basement.<br />

McQueary, 42, was installing a water heater at the insurance agency.<br />

Employees realized they had not seen him for a while and suspected a gas leak in the<br />

basement<br />

<strong>The</strong>y called the Rocheter Fire Department. McQueary was found unconscious.<br />

Coroner Junior GOOD said no determination for the cause of McQyeary’s death has been<br />

made at this time.<br />

“We don’t have anything yet,” Good said.<br />

“Since (Woodlawn) hospital got rid of its morgue, we’re going to have to wait for the<br />

results on some tests. That’s just the way it’s going to be now.”<br />

Woodlawn Hospital officials said they could not answer qustions concerning the<br />

condition of McQueary when he was found.<br />

John R McQUEARY, Sr., 42, died unexpectdly at 1:45 p.m. Monday at the Steve Moore<br />

Insurance Agency where he was installing a water heater.<br />

Born in South Bend to Ernest and Elizabeth SIMMS McQUEARY, he had lived in Talma<br />

and Rochestr since 1968. On June 30, 1973, in <strong>Rochester</strong>, he married Patricia J. HITTLE; she<br />

survives. He was a self-employed contractor who owned and operated McQ’s Repair Service,<br />

<strong>Rochester</strong>.<br />

In addition to his wife he is survived by one son John R. McQUEARY at home; his<br />

mother Elizabeth McQUEARY, <strong>Rochester</strong>; his father and step-mother Ernest and Virginia<br />

McQUEARY, <strong>Rochester</strong>; one sister Mrs. Darwin (Marchelle) GARRISON, Rocheter; one brother<br />

Ernest and wife Lois McQUEARY, Culver; one step-sister Charlann CLEVENGER, Logansport;<br />

and one step-brother Gary CLEVENGER, <strong>Rochester</strong>. He was preceded in death by one daughter<br />

Michelle [McQUEARY[, in 1973 and one son Johnny [McQUEARY], in 1981.<br />

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, <strong>Rochester</strong>, with the<br />

Rev. Chris DODSON officiatig Burial wil be in the I.O.O.F Cemetry, <strong>Rochester</strong>. Visitation is<br />

from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and for an hour before services Thursday.<br />

Vernon E. McKenzie<br />

Vernon E McKENZIE, 70, 6112 North Walnut St., <strong>Rochester</strong>, died at 8 p.m. Monday at<br />

the Veteran Affairs Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Arrangements are pending at the Bonine funeral<br />

Home, Culver.
