Mildred M. THOMPSON, 85, 12772 East 300 South, Akron, died at 9:55 p.m. Sunday at<br />

Woodlawn Hospital. She has been in failing health for several years.<br />

Born in Miami <strong>County</strong> to Truman and Stella SHOEMAKER HARTZLER, she was<br />

married Oct.6, 1934, in Marion to Byron E. THOMPSON, who preceded in death Feb. 13, 1995.<br />

She was a homemaker and had worked at Timbercrest, North Manchester. She was a<br />

member of Akron Church of God.<br />

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Sue RITCHIE, Paw Paw, Ill.; a son, Stuart A.<br />

THOMPSON, Akron; four grandchildren, Carl THOMPSON, Carter THOMPSON, April<br />

KAISER, Robin GRIFFIN; a great-granddaughter and two great-grandsons; a sister, Flossie<br />

LANCE, North Manchester. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Nettie MILLER, Nellie<br />

MAYNARD, Mabelle RAMSEY, Mary POLK; five brothers, Floyd, Orville “Pete”, Russell<br />

“Bob”, Lester “Joe”, Forrest “Bud” [HARTZLER].<br />

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Akron Church of God with Pastor James<br />

MALBONE officiating. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday<br />

[at the Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron].<br />

Oct. 1`2, 1903 - June 2, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Nora P. SOMMERS, 92, Kewanna, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday at Pulaski Health Care<br />

Center, Winamac.<br />

Born in Corydon to Albert and Hattie Mae EVANS TABLER, she married Adam M.<br />

SOMMERS in 1922. She was the retired owner of the Welcome Inn Restaurant and Sommers<br />

Grain Corp., Grass Creek. She was also a member of the Grass Creek United Methodist church<br />

and Ladies Aid.<br />

Preceding her in death were her husband, one daughrer, two grandchildren, three sisters<br />

and four brothers.<br />

Surviving are three sons, Adam [SOMMERS] Jr., Bradenton, Fla., Arnold E.<br />

SOMMERS, and Carl D. SOMMERS, both of Grass Creek; three sisters, Myrna FUNKHOUSER,<br />

Ocala, Fla., Geneva FUNKHOUSER, Osceola, and Mary THOMAS, South BEnd; two brothers,<br />

Orville TABLER, South Bend, and Ashell TABLER, <strong>Rochester</strong>; nine grandchildren; and thirteen<br />

great-grandchildren.<br />

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Grass Creek United Methodist Church<br />

with Rev. Don REED officiating. Burial will be at the Grass Creek Cemetery. Friends may call<br />

from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Harrison Metzger Funeral Home, Kewanna, or one hour before services<br />

at the church.<br />

Memorials can be made to the Grass Creek United Methodist Ladies Aid.
