dentro de una organización sanitaria, además de las imágenes provenientes
de los servicios de radiodiagnóstico. Como consecuencia de ello, se
almacenan imágenes generadas en los electrocardiógrafos y ecógrafos
que se utilizan en diversos servicios clínicos dentro de la organización,
las imágenes endoscópicas y otros (Yu y Wang, 2010).
Además de ampliar el número de modalidades, la tendencia en la
imagen médica incluye la utilización de herramientas informáticas más
especializadas que permitan manejar las imágenes de manera que reconozcan
las distintas zonas de una imagen médica y puedan, mediante la
comparación con patrones patológicos, ofrecer una ayuda al diagnóstico.
También es importante destacar la especialización de las herramientas
de modelado 3D y 4D que permitirán una recreación virtual de órganos
y partes anatómicas, lo que ayudará considerablemente a diagnosticar
los exámenes y a planificar tratamientos quirúrgicos e intervencionistas.
