RADON
The Advisory Committee on Environmental and Occupational Health
recommends :
1- that remedial measures be taken where the level of radon in a
home is found to exceed 800 Bq/m3 as the annual average con-
centration. Beacause there is some risk at any level of
radon exposure, home owners may wish to reduce levels of
radon as low as practivable;
2. that all appropriate federal and provincial agencies be
encouraged to communicate with the public on the issue of
Indoor radon.
The Advisory Committee recognizes the need for further work to
define the risks associated with particular exposures to indoor
radon and will undertake to conduct such work.
The Advisory Committee recognizes the benefit of seeking national
consensus by means of a consultative and public process.
The Department of National Health and Welfare will undertake to
publish a citizen's guide on the radon issue to facilitate communi-
cation with the public.
