Environnement Québec MME FRANCINE LAPERRIÈRE, ING., M.SC. Environnement Canada M. RAYMOND PERRIER, M.SC. Environnement Québec SOMMAIRE L'entreposage de BPC a Saint-Basile-le-Grand débute en 1978. Lors de l'incendie du 23' août 1988, l'entrepôt contient, selon les registres, environ 23 000 gallons d'askarel. L'accident écologique est l'occasion d'un déploiement exceptionnel de mesures d'urgence. - 3 800 personnes évacuées (pendant 18 jours) 366 échantillons eau-air-sol frottis analysés 400 échantilions de fruits, légumes, produits de la ferme analysés - 2 500 maisons et propriétés nettoyées - 3 500 acres de produits de la ferme confisqués et détruits - 5 600 examens médicaux préventifs. La restauration du site de l'incendie va coûter plus de 6,5 millions de dollars. L'élimination de l'ensemble des BPC n'est pas incluse dans cet estimé pas plus que ne sont connus, a l'heure actuelle, l'endroit éventuel et le procédé d'élimination des déchets toxiques.
