GR 41-403 – Part-Time<br />

Employment Definition<br />

What is part-time employment?<br />

Employment <strong>of</strong> less than 100 hours per month is<br />

considered part-time employment.<br />

Refer to GR 41-414.3 for details on GROW<br />

requirements for individuals employed part-time.<br />

GR 41-403.1 - Part-Time<br />

Employment<br />

Are applicants and approved individuals who<br />

are employed part-time eligible?<br />

Yes, applicants/participants (including family<br />

members who reside with them) who are employed<br />

part-time are eligible to GR if the deductible total<br />

(grant minus EID) is less than the grant and all<br />

other eligibility requirements are met.<br />

Requirements for Part-<br />

Time Employment<br />

What are the requirements for individuals who<br />

are employed part-time?<br />

To be eligible to GR, the part-time employee must:<br />

If <strong>of</strong>fered, give up part-time employment to<br />

accept full-time employment which pays the<br />

federal/California minimum wage or more; and<br />

Search for full-time employment when not at<br />

work on the part-time job; and<br />

Register with EDD and be available for full-time<br />

employment; and<br />

Participate in GROW when employment is less<br />

than 20 hours per week.<br />

GR 41-404 – Aid to First<br />

Paycheck<br />

Can GR individuals who are hired full-time after<br />

applying for GR receive aid until their first<br />

paycheck?<br />

Yes, individual who are hired for full-time<br />

employment after applying for GR, are eligible to<br />

emergency aid (if all other eligibility criteria are<br />

met). The emergency aid is for whichever period is<br />

less:<br />

Until the first paycheck is received, or<br />

For a period <strong>of</strong> 14 calendar days, beginning with<br />

the first day <strong>of</strong> work.<br />

Refer to GR 44-230 for details on determining the<br />

amount <strong>of</strong> emergency aid.
