Action for District<br />

Designated NSA<br />

What is required once the district designation <strong>of</strong><br />

NSA is determined?<br />

When the DD determines that the individual is<br />

temporarily or permanently NSA:<br />

• The employability status is changed to NSA<br />

based on the new ABP 2012.<br />

• The case is transferred to an NSA file.<br />

• District designated NSA cases are handled in<br />

the same way that DMH/APS designated NSA<br />

cases are handled.<br />

• “Temporary NSA” individuals are re-evaluated<br />

by DMH/APS staff on the dates indicated in<br />

Section 5 <strong>of</strong> the new ABP 2012.<br />

Confidentiality <strong>of</strong> NSA<br />

Records<br />

Can information regarding NSA individuals be<br />

shared with anyone?<br />

The information provided to DPSS is confidential.<br />

As a general rule, an individual may see or release<br />

from their case record information supplied to or<br />

received from DPSS. To release DPSS<br />

information:<br />

• The representative must have written<br />

authorization signed by the individual within the<br />

past year, or<br />

• Must be accompanied by the individual who<br />

provides verbal authorization.<br />

NOTE: The information contained in the ABP<br />

2012 is confidential and is not to be<br />

released to individuals.<br />

How are NSA individuals identified as<br />

potentially SSI eligible referred to the SSI<br />

advocate?<br />

At approval, NSA individuals determined potentially<br />

eligible to SSI are walked by district staff to the<br />

advocate and their names are added to the SSIAP<br />

Initial Interview log.
