EXAMPLE #2:<br />

While living in Ventura County, the individual was<br />

ordered to a rehabilitation center in Los Angeles<br />

County, where he resided for two months. Upon<br />

release, he declared his intent to reside in Los<br />

Angeles County.<br />

In this situation, because the individual lived<br />

in another county prior to being ordered to the<br />

rehab center in Los Angeles County, he has<br />

not lived in Los Angeles County for 15<br />

calendar days. Time spent in an institution is<br />

not counted in establishing residency.<br />

EXAMPLE #3<br />

An individual is released from a treatment center<br />

located outside <strong>of</strong> Los Angeles County. The<br />

individual resided in this county for six months at<br />

the time <strong>of</strong> his placement and returns to Los<br />

Angeles County immediately upon release.<br />

In this situation the intent was to reside in Los<br />

Angeles County and there is both presence<br />

and intent.<br />

GR 42-402.5 – Absent<br />

Is aid terminated if the individual is absent from<br />

the County 60 days or more?<br />

Yes, if the individual is absent from the County 60<br />

days or more, it is presumed that he/she no longer<br />

resides in the County, and when the information is<br />

input, LEADER will fail the case.<br />

NOTE: Fifteen calendar day residency requirements<br />

apply to GR only, not to Food Stamps.<br />
