Verification: The Case Comments section must
contain:
Date emergency aid is issued,
Date of first paycheck, and
Name and title of employer representative
verifying date of first paycheck.
An ABCDM 228, Applicant’s Authorization for
Release of Information, (an out of drawer form)
must be signed by the individual authorizing contact
with the potential employer. If the individual refuses
to sign the ABCDM 228, aid to first paycheck
cannot be issued.

Can employable individuals be temporarily
exempt from employable requirements?
Yes, employable individuals may be temporarily
exempt from employable requirements for 30 days if
one of the following criteria is met. LEADER stops
the clock while an individual is temporarily exempt.
What are the criteria for a temporary
exemption?
Individuals may be exempt from employable
requirements for up to 30 days in any of the
following situations:
Individuals being referred for NSA evaluation
when the DMH/APS Worker is not available on
the day of application.
An unemployable individual’s status as a U is
expiring and the employability screening
