the food, housing, or personal care needs <strong>of</strong> an<br />

individual subject to the following conditions are<br />

exempt.<br />

‣ The amount <strong>of</strong> exemption is only up to the<br />

GR grant amount for the particular need item<br />

for which it is used.<br />

‣ Intake – the loan must be received either<br />

during the 30 day period immediately<br />

preceding the date <strong>of</strong> application or during<br />

the period when the application is pending or<br />

be obtained to meet basic needs that are<br />

unmet due to an erroneous denial.<br />

‣ Approved – the loam must be obtained to<br />

meet basic needs that are unmet due to an<br />

erroneous termination or a delay in the<br />

receipt <strong>of</strong> the grant.<br />

NOTE: This determination is not a function <strong>of</strong><br />

LEADER and must be manually<br />

determined.<br />

Verification Verification: Individual’s statement on the PA 853-<br />

2, Affidavit, (an out <strong>of</strong> drawer form) to include all <strong>of</strong><br />

the following, is completed:<br />

• The amount <strong>of</strong> the loan,<br />

• The purpose <strong>of</strong> the loan; i.e., what the money<br />

was used for,<br />

• The name <strong>of</strong> the lender,<br />

• The date the loan was made, and<br />

• The plan for repayment.<br />

NOTE: For approved cases, the loan must be<br />

repaid when the GR person receives the<br />

GR grant.<br />

If the amount <strong>of</strong> the loan exceeds the GR grant<br />

amount for the particular need item, the “excess”<br />

amount is considered income.<br />

EXAMPLE:<br />

On April 1, a person borrows $150 to pay rent and<br />

then applies for GR on April 3. The Worker only
