for Continued Benefits<br />

Can individuals request continued SSI/SSP or<br />

RSDHI benefits?<br />

Yes, individuals whose SSI/SSP or <strong>Social</strong> Security<br />

benefits are being terminated may request<br />

continued SSA benefits pending first level appeal if<br />

the request is made within 10 calendar days<br />

following the date on the SSA termination notice,<br />

“Notice <strong>of</strong> Planned Action”.<br />

What should unemployable individuals be told<br />

about continued benefits?<br />

Unemployable individuals who were notified <strong>of</strong> the<br />

SSA termination less than 10 calendar days prior to<br />

the GR application are advised to request (before<br />

the filing period ends) continued SSA benefits at the<br />

time they file the appeal at SSA.<br />

Unemployable individuals are also advised to<br />

request continued SSA benefits when filing the SSA<br />

appeal if the 10 calendar day period has not passed<br />

when reported to the Worker. See following<br />

procedures.<br />

How are SSI/SSP or RSDHI benefits handled?<br />

• Individuals who are eligible to continued<br />

SSI/SSP (or <strong>Social</strong> Security, if the SSA grant<br />

equaled/exceeded the grant) are ineligible to<br />

GR.<br />

• Continued SSA benefits are not considered as<br />

available to the individual if the first level appeal<br />

is denied.<br />

SSA benefits eligible to GR?<br />

No, individuals who were advised to request<br />

continued SSA benefits before the 10 calendar day<br />

period passed but failed to comply are ineligible to<br />

GR until the first level appeal (SSI/SSP or <strong>Social</strong>
