An individual leaves the B&C facility on April 21. The<br />

B&C payment to the facility is stopped effective April<br />

20 (the last day the individual slept at the facility).<br />

How are B&C benefits stopped?<br />

When an individual leaves a facility and is in a new<br />

living arrangement, the living arrangement is<br />

changed from B&C to the actual arrangement and<br />

B&C payment to the facility is stopped.<br />

Refer to GR 45-119 for details on changing the living<br />

arrangement.<br />

The ABP 165, B&C/Rent Cancellation, (an out <strong>of</strong><br />

drawer form) is mailed to notify the B&C facility that<br />

B&C payment will be discontinued effective the date<br />

specified.<br />

Is the case terminated when an individual in B&C<br />

enters a medical facility?<br />

When an individual in a B&C facility enters a medical<br />

facility (such as a hospital) the case is not terminated<br />

when the following conditions are met:<br />

• The individual’s physician expects the period <strong>of</strong><br />

hospitalization to end before the end <strong>of</strong> the month<br />

following admission, and<br />

• The individual intends to return to the same B&C<br />

facility, and<br />

• The B&C facility is holding a room for the<br />

individual for this return.
