• A final bill from the provider <strong>of</strong> the service<br />

indicating the total final cost <strong>of</strong> the repair.<br />

• A lettergram from the Property <strong>Services</strong> Section<br />

stating that they have inspected the property and<br />

that all work being billed for has been completed.<br />

What verification is needed when the cost<br />

exceeds $200 in a 12-month period?<br />

In addition t the verification above:<br />

• Property <strong>Services</strong> Section<br />

The Property <strong>Services</strong> Section must inform the<br />

District director, in writing, if the essential repairs<br />

in excess <strong>of</strong> $200 in a 12-month period are<br />

required. The Property <strong>Services</strong> Section must<br />

indicate what repairs are required and must<br />

specify why the repairs are required and the<br />

estimated cost.<br />

• District Director<br />

If the District Director agrees with the Property<br />

<strong>Services</strong> Section’s recommendation, the Property<br />

Folder is forwarded to the Division Chief,<br />

requesting approval <strong>of</strong> the allowance.<br />

GR 44-240 Special<br />

Need for Telephone<br />

What are the criteria for special allowance for<br />

telephone?<br />

• The special need allowance for a telephone may<br />

be budgeted only at the lowest rate obtainable,<br />

but in no instance may the allowance exceed<br />

$5.91, tax included.<br />

• This allowance requires the approval signature <strong>of</strong><br />

the ES.<br />

• The allowance may be budgeted only in the event<br />

<strong>of</strong> documented extreme illness or when lack <strong>of</strong> a<br />

telephone could create a hazard to the individual.<br />

• Case Comments are annotated with an<br />

explanation <strong>of</strong> why the allowance is being made.
