Requirements for<br />

Emergency Aid<br />

What are the general requirements for emergency<br />

aid?<br />

Following are the requirements for emergency aid:<br />

• All resources must be exhausted or unavailable.<br />

• The household must be apparently eligible for GR.<br />

No duplicate aid may be issued except for<br />

catastrophe situation (limited to fire, flood,<br />

earthquake, or storm).<br />

• The household cannot currently be in a penalty<br />

period.<br />

GR 44-220.3 Specific<br />

Requirement at Intake<br />

Are there specific requirements for issuing<br />

emergency aid at Intake?<br />

Yes, emergency aid may be issued to an apparently<br />

eligible individual prior to approval, subject to the<br />

following limitations:<br />

• The 15-day residency requirement is met (except<br />

for “return to residence”).<br />

• A regular application or an ABP 898-15, <strong>General</strong><br />

<strong>Relief</strong> Application for County <strong>Public</strong> Assistance –<br />

Nonresident, (an out <strong>of</strong> drawer form) has been<br />

completed.<br />

• The individual has declared on one <strong>of</strong> the<br />

applications that:<br />

‣ His/her current income or liquid assets<br />

(personal property) do not exceed the amount<br />

allowed in the Personal Property regulations;<br />

and<br />

Refer to GR 42-211 for details on Personal<br />

Property.<br />

‣ No public or private agency is currently<br />

providing or will be providing for need during<br />

the accrual period <strong>of</strong> issuance; and<br />

‣ No one else will provide for the emergency<br />

need.
