Home<br />

Are Veterans required to apply for residency in<br />

the California Veteran’s Home?<br />

Yes, all individuals applying for GR who meet the<br />

criteria listed above are required to apply for<br />

residency. Application can be made at the State<br />

<strong>Department</strong> <strong>of</strong> Veterans Affairs.<br />

Those accepted for residency are ineligible to GR.<br />

Veterans’ Home<br />

Are residents in a government funded public<br />

institution eligible to GR?<br />

No, residents in any government funded public<br />

institution are not eligible to GR. When an<br />

individual is admitted to the California Veterans’<br />

Home, GR is denied/terminated.<br />

How are referrals to the California Veterans’<br />

Home made?<br />

If an individual is interested in applying for<br />

residency at the California Veterans’ Home, it<br />

should be indicated on the CA 5 referral to the<br />

DMVA that the individual wishes to apply for<br />

residency at the home.<br />

Greyhound public transportation is available with<br />

connections from all parts <strong>of</strong> California. The<br />

individual must arrange transportation by either<br />

private car or bus.<br />

Special Need issuance for medical transportation, in<br />

an amount not to exceed $30, upon verification <strong>of</strong><br />

travel arrangements may be allowed. Verification is<br />

recorded in Case Comments, including the cost and<br />

mode <strong>of</strong> transportation and time <strong>of</strong> departure. If the
