GR 44-109.1 – Disability<br />

or Injury Reported<br />

When an individual reports a disability or injury<br />

what needs to be done?<br />

When an individual reports a disability or injury<br />

listed below, two copies <strong>of</strong> the PA 971,<br />

Accident/Illness Data, (an out <strong>of</strong> drawer form) are<br />

sent to the Property <strong>Services</strong> Section and to Special<br />

Operations Section (SOS).<br />

• When an individual received a personal injury<br />

not connected with his/her employment.<br />

• When an individual has a disease or disability<br />

caused or aggravated by an injury connected<br />

with his her employment or work at a non-<br />

County Workfare Project.<br />

• When an individual is the dependent <strong>of</strong> a person<br />

who died because <strong>of</strong> an injury or disability<br />

related to employment.<br />

GR 44-109.2 – Lawsuit<br />

If an individual reports involvement in a lawsuit,<br />

what needs to be done?<br />

The individual must provide the status <strong>of</strong> a pending<br />

lawsuit at each annual agreement.<br />

If an individual reports an injury or disability, as<br />

described above, but states that there is not a<br />

lawsuit pending, the individual is referred to Legal<br />

Aid for assistance.<br />

Contacting Attorney or<br />

Insurance Company`<br />

Should the individual’s attorney or insurance<br />

company be contacted?<br />

Yes, the attorneys or insurance companies are<br />

contacted for benefit information when the individual<br />

states that a payment will be made within 90 days.<br />

GR 44-109.4 – Monetary<br />

Settlement When an individual reports receiving a<br />

monetary settlement from a lawsuit or Worker’s<br />

Compensation, what needs to be done?<br />

When an individual receives a monetary settlement<br />

from a lawsuit or Workers’ Compensation case,<br />

action is taken to reduce/terminate GR within one<br />

workday <strong>of</strong> learning about the settlement.
