• Rent is paid as a vendor payment when:<br />

The individual indicates that the landlord<br />

requires direct rent payment, or<br />

The individual/vendor is requesting direct rent<br />

vendor payment to prevent eviction, or<br />

It is determined that a money management<br />

problem exists, and<br />

Refer to GR 44-202 for details on Money<br />

Management.<br />

All member <strong>of</strong> the household are aided on the<br />

same GR case.<br />

GR 44-304.1 - Direct<br />

Rent Payments<br />

When are direct rent payments to prevent<br />

eviction paid?<br />

• Direct rent vendor payments are available to<br />

the individual upon request to prevent eviction<br />

due to non-payment <strong>of</strong> rent. Requests may<br />

be made by the individual or by the vendor on<br />

behalf <strong>of</strong> the individual.<br />

NOTE: Participation in direct rent payments is<br />

voluntary, requiring the individual’s<br />

agreement.<br />

• The actual amount <strong>of</strong> rent is paid to the vendor<br />

and deducted from the individual’s grant.<br />

• The balance <strong>of</strong> the grant amount is paid<br />

separately to the individual.<br />

GR 44-304.2 - Vendor<br />

Who is the vendor?<br />

The vendor is the person providing the housing<br />

need, such as the landlord, hotels, L.A. City<br />

Housing Authority, and other housing providers. A<br />

direct rent payment agreement is voluntary and the<br />

direct rent payment amount is deducted from the<br />

individual’s GR grant.
