GR 44-101.1 – <strong>Policy</strong><br />

How is income treated?<br />

• All net income to the GR household is deducted<br />

from the GR grant.<br />

Refer to OPS 23-110 – Quarterly Reporting for<br />

details.<br />

Exception: Refer to GR 44-102 for exempt<br />

income.<br />

• All income <strong>of</strong> a legally married, non-aided<br />

spouse with whom the GR individual is living, in<br />

excess <strong>of</strong> the spouse’s needs per the GR Basic<br />

Budget Table, is considered income to the GR<br />

household.<br />

• Refer to GR 44-117 for details on marital-like<br />

situations.<br />

• If any person in the home receives State or<br />

federal public assistance, (e.g., SSI/SSP, CAPI,<br />

CalWORKs) none <strong>of</strong> the income <strong>of</strong> the public<br />

assistance recipient is considered available to<br />

meet the needs <strong>of</strong> the GR household.<br />

• Applicants who will begin receiving income in<br />

the application month that will equal or exceed<br />

the GR grant may be eligible to receive<br />

emergency aid pending actual receipt <strong>of</strong> the<br />

income.<br />

• Individuals are responsible for providing<br />

information necessary for income determination<br />

and for taking all action necessary to obtain<br />

available income.<br />

‣ Income is available if the person has only to<br />

apply for, claim, or accept the income in<br />

order to obtain it.<br />

‣ Examples <strong>of</strong> available income are:<br />
