Employable<br />

Requirements<br />

What happens when an individual refuses/fails<br />

to comply with employable requirements?<br />

Employable individuals (including the legal spouse<br />

and minor children) are ineligible for GR in<br />

accordance with the 0/30/60-day progressive<br />

penalty criteria when they refuse or fail to comply<br />

with the GR employable requirements without good<br />

cause. When there is no good cause and it is the<br />

first sanctionable occurrence within the prior 12-<br />

month period, a 0-day pentalty is imposed; when it<br />

is the second occurrence, a 30-day penalty is<br />

imposed; and with it is the third occurrence, a 60-<br />

day penalty is imposed.<br />

GR 40-105.3 – Strike<br />

Are individuals who are on strike eligible to GR?<br />

No, employable individuals (including the spouse<br />

and minor children) who participate in a strike are<br />

ineligible for GR during the period <strong>of</strong> time they are<br />

taking part in the labor action. In addition, no GR<br />

benefits may be used for or paid to a person or<br />

family who is ineligible to CalWORKs/RCA because<br />

a family member living in the home is participating<br />

in a strike.<br />

What are the requirements for exploring/utilizing<br />

other benefits and resources?<br />

As a condition <strong>of</strong> eligibility, all individuals, including<br />

a spouse and minor children residing in the<br />

household, must pursue all potential income. In the<br />

case <strong>of</strong> GR families, parents must pursue potential<br />

income on behalf <strong>of</strong> their minor children.<br />
