• In family cases (two or more persons aided),<br />

families that live together are entitled to own an<br />

interest in one motor vehicle with a retail value <strong>of</strong><br />

$4,500 or less, regardless <strong>of</strong> how much is owed.<br />

• For both adult and family cases, motor vehicles<br />

include, but are not limited to cars, trucks,<br />

motorbikes, motorcycles, mopeds, minibikes,<br />

dune buggies, and electric cars.<br />

Leased Car<br />

Is a leased car considered property?<br />

No, leased cars are not considered property and are<br />

not subject to the property limits.<br />

Mobile/Motor Homes<br />

Can individuals on GR have mobile/motor<br />

homes?<br />

Yes.<br />

• A motor home, house trailer, or houseboat used<br />

as the residence <strong>of</strong> the individual is exempt if the<br />

market value does not exceed $11,500. When the<br />

motor home, house trailer, boat, or houseboat is<br />

not used as a residence, property utilization<br />

requirements must be met.<br />

Refer to GR 42-210 for property utilization<br />

information.<br />

• A mobile home used as the residence <strong>of</strong> the<br />

individual is exempt if the market value does not<br />

exceed $15,000. The value can be determined<br />

through either property tax statement or DMV,<br />

depending on the year manufactured. When the<br />

mobile home is not used as a residence, property<br />

utilization requirements must be met.<br />

information.<br />

NOTE: A mobile home, as distinguished from a<br />

house trailer or motor home, cannot be<br />

towed by a car, pickup truck, etc. Rather,<br />

it must be moved pr<strong>of</strong>essionally because<br />

<strong>of</strong> its size.<br />
