The amount <strong>of</strong> the allowance is based on the<br />

estimated cost <strong>of</strong> the required tools obtained from the<br />

prospective employer or $50, whichever is less.<br />

What is the special need is issued and the<br />

individual fails to get the job?<br />

If an individual fails to obtain the job and remains on<br />

GR after the issuance <strong>of</strong> the tool allowance,<br />

verification that the funds were spent on tools is<br />

needed. If the individual fails, refuses to provide the<br />

verification for the purchase <strong>of</strong> the tools, an<br />

overpayment adjustment is initiated.<br />

Care Kit<br />

When is a special need allowance for personal<br />

care issued?<br />

At intake only, individuals declaring an emergency<br />

need for person care items may be issued a<br />

prepackaged Personal Care Kit <strong>of</strong> common personal<br />

care items. In the event the Personal Care Kit is out<br />

<strong>of</strong> stock in the district, a $5.00 Personal Care<br />

allowance may be issued until a new supply is<br />

available.<br />
