<strong>of</strong> MSARP Treatment<br />

How long can an individual be in MSARP<br />

treatment?<br />

Individuals are eligible to receive up to six months<br />

plus an additional three month extension <strong>of</strong><br />

consecutive treatment services without regard to<br />

employability status and remaining time on aid.<br />

NOTE: If an individual relapses after nine months<br />

(six month plus three months extension) <strong>of</strong><br />

consecutive treatment, the individual is<br />

allowed to re-enter a treatment program<br />

when assessed and referred by the<br />

Assessment center to a treatment<br />

program.<br />

Individuals in treatment who are terminated due to<br />

time limits may continue to receive substance<br />

abuse treatment (residential or outpatient) for up to<br />

a maximum <strong>of</strong> nine months. To be eligible for<br />

ongoing treatment, the individual must have entered<br />

treatment while still on GR. No GR is paid to the<br />

individual or to the B&C provider and no action is<br />

needed by districts on these cases after GR is<br />

discontinued.<br />

EXAMPLE #1:<br />

An Employable’s MSARP treatment began May 15,<br />

2004 the individual’s GR is terminated for time limits<br />

June 30, 2004. DPSS will continue paying for<br />

treatment services for up to nine months (six<br />

months plus a three month extension). No action is<br />

required by the district.<br />

EXAMPLE #2:<br />

GR was terminated for time limits June 30, 2004.<br />

The individual was not in treatment at the time GR<br />

eligibility expired. In August 2004, he wants to<br />

enter treatment on his own. He will need to seek<br />

treatment programs funded by sources, other than<br />

DPSS, as he does not qualify for MSARP because
