• Vendor Payments<br />

Taxes are due by December 10 for the first half <strong>of</strong><br />

the year and by April 10 for the second half <strong>of</strong> the<br />

year. Requisition is made in advance to reach the<br />

SOS six weeks before these dates.<br />

• Payments Directly to Individuals<br />

When taxes are included in the monthly mortgage<br />

payment, the special needs allowance for the<br />

prorated taxes may be issued via EBT.<br />

Proration is accomplished by determining the total<br />

yearly tax liability, divide this figure by 12, and<br />

allow ½ as the monthly special need amount.<br />

Verification<br />

Verification:<br />

• Vendor payment issuance is verified by a report<br />

from Property Service Section or by review <strong>of</strong> the<br />

tax bill in the individual’s possession.<br />

• Payments directly to individuals for tax impound is<br />

verified with the mortgage company and Case<br />

Comments is annotated with the type <strong>of</strong><br />

verification seen or that a mortgage company<br />

employee verbally provided the tax impound<br />

amount owed.<br />

• Lien documentation is verified by the PA 622,<br />

Property Report, from the Property <strong>Services</strong><br />

Section indicating that the County lien or<br />

mortgage is valid and in good order.<br />

GR 44-236.4 Approval<br />

Is the Deputy District Director approval required?<br />

Yes, allowances for payment <strong>of</strong> property taxes, either<br />

vendor payments or payments directly to the<br />

individual, must be authorized by the Deputy District<br />

Director. This approval may not be delegated.<br />
