3. The Lecturer shall give in <strong>the</strong> year <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice three lectures (or such o<strong>the</strong>r number as <strong>the</strong> Faculty<br />

Board may in any case approve) dealing with some development in Economics, or in Economic History,<br />

or in some kindred subject.<br />

4. The lectures shall be given in Full Term.<br />

5. The Lecturer shall deposit a copy <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> text <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lectures in <strong>the</strong> Marshall Library.<br />

6. The Lecturer shall receive as stipend such sum as shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong><br />

Economics within a range approved from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Council, and in addition <strong>the</strong> Faculty<br />

Board may at <strong>the</strong>ir discretion pay any expenses <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lecturer, whe<strong>the</strong>r in travelling to and from<br />

<strong>Cambridge</strong> or in residing in <strong>Cambridge</strong> for <strong>the</strong> period <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lectures, from <strong>the</strong> surplus income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Fund during <strong>the</strong> Lecturer’s year <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice or from any accumulated surplus <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

7. The General Board may suspend <strong>the</strong> Alfred Marshall Lectureship at <strong>the</strong>ir discretion and apply<br />

<strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund for general Faculty purposes should <strong>the</strong> financial situation appear to <strong>the</strong>m to<br />

make such action desirable.<br />

KINGSLEY MARTIN MEMORIAL FUND<br />

1. The gift to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by Miss Dorothy Woodman on behalf <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> late Kingsley Martin shall<br />

form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Kingsley Martin Memorial Fund.<br />

2. The first charge on <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be to provide for an annual lecture, to be called<br />

<strong>the</strong> Kingsley Martin Memorial Lecture, on a South Asian topic, preference being given to a topic<br />

relating to Burma. The lecture shall be delivered in Full Term.<br />

3. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Committee <strong>of</strong> Management <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Centre <strong>of</strong> South Asian<br />

Studies.<br />

4. A Lecturer shall be appointed by <strong>the</strong> Managers in each academical year, and shall deliver <strong>the</strong><br />

Lecture by <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> academical year following that in which he or she was appointed.<br />

5. The stipend <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lecturer shall be such sum not exceeding <strong>the</strong> available income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund<br />

as may be determined from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Managers with <strong>the</strong> approval <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Council.<br />

6. Any unexpended income accumulated in <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be applied from time to time at <strong>the</strong><br />

discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers to meet:<br />

(a) any expenses that may be incurred by <strong>the</strong> Lecturer in connection with <strong>the</strong> lecture;<br />

(b) <strong>the</strong> general expenses <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Centre <strong>of</strong> South Asian Studies, preference being given to expenses<br />

related to <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong> Burma.<br />

MASON PRIZE FOR BIBLICAL HEBREW<br />

1. The Mason Prize for Biblical Hebrew shall be awarded annually to that candidate, or student<br />

qualified by standing to be a candidate, for Tyrwhitt’s Hebrew Scholarships who shall be judged by<br />

<strong>the</strong> Examiners to have shown <strong>the</strong> greatest distinction in Biblical Hebrew in <strong>the</strong> examination for those<br />

Scholarships.<br />

2. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be such sum as shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Asian<br />

and Middle Eastern Studies within a range approved from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Council.<br />

3. Any unexpended income accumulated in <strong>the</strong> Fund may be used at <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Middle Eastern Studies in consultation with and with <strong>the</strong> agreement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> teaching<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficers in Hebrew in <strong>the</strong> Department for <strong>the</strong> promotion and encouragement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong> Biblical<br />

Hebrew.<br />

4. A student who has once obtained <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be disqualified from competing for it a second<br />

time.<br />

5. It shall be competent for <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> from time to time to make such changes in <strong>the</strong>se<br />

regulations as shall be judged fit: provided always that <strong>the</strong> proceeds <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund be given for pr<strong>of</strong>iciency<br />

in <strong>the</strong> knowledge <strong>of</strong> Biblical Hebrew, and that <strong>the</strong> Prize be connected with <strong>the</strong> name <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Reverend<br />
