2. The Medal shall be awarded each year by <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Veterinary Medicine<br />

for distinction in veterinary studies as shown by performance in all three Parts <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Final Veterinary<br />

Examination.<br />

GORLEY PUTT FUND AND LECTURESHIP<br />

1. The sum bequea<strong>the</strong>d to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by Samuel Gorley Putt, M.A., Fellow <strong>of</strong> Christ’s College,<br />

shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Gorley Putt Fund. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board<br />

<strong>of</strong> English.<br />

2. The first charge on <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> stipend and, as appropriate, <strong>the</strong> national<br />

insurance and pension contributions <strong>of</strong> a Gorley Putt Lecturer in English Literary History. On <strong>the</strong><br />

occasion <strong>of</strong> each appointment <strong>the</strong> Managers shall determine, having regard to <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund<br />

and <strong>the</strong> needs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> English, and after taking account <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> requirements <strong>of</strong> Regulation 6<br />

below, whe<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> Gorley Putt Lectureship is to be a visiting Lectureship, to be held for such period<br />

as <strong>the</strong> Managers shall specify, or a <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice established in <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> English.<br />

3. If <strong>the</strong> Managers determine that <strong>the</strong> Gorley Putt Lectureship is to be a visiting Lectureship, <strong>the</strong><br />

Lecturer shall be appointed by a Committee specially constituted for <strong>the</strong> purpose, which shall consist<br />

<strong>of</strong>:<br />

(a) <strong>the</strong> Chairman <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> English;<br />

(b) three persons appointed by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board;<br />

(c) one person appointed by <strong>the</strong> governing body <strong>of</strong> Christ’s College.<br />

It shall be <strong>the</strong> duty <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lecturer to give one or more lectures, as determined by <strong>the</strong> Managers, in<br />

English Literary History.<br />

4. If <strong>the</strong> Managers determine that <strong>the</strong> Gorley Putt Lectureship is to be a <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice, <strong>the</strong>y shall<br />

fur<strong>the</strong>r determine, after consulting <strong>the</strong> General Board, whe<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> tenure <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice is to be <strong>the</strong><br />

same as that prescribed by Statute D, XVII, 6 and 7 for a <strong>University</strong> Lecturer. Appointments and<br />

reappointments to such an <strong>of</strong>fice shall be made by <strong>the</strong> Appointments Committee for <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong><br />

English, with one person appointed by <strong>the</strong> governing body <strong>of</strong> Christ’s College as an additional member<br />

for this purpose. The Lectureship shall be placed in Schedule J for <strong>the</strong> tenure <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> person appointed.<br />

5. (a) The stipend <strong>of</strong> a Gorley Putt Lecturer appointed under Regulation 3 shall be such sum as<br />

shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Managers on <strong>the</strong> occasion <strong>of</strong> each election, subject to <strong>the</strong> approval <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

General Board; in addition, <strong>the</strong> Managers may at <strong>the</strong>ir discretion pay any expenses <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lecturer.<br />

(b) A Gorley Putt Lecturer appointed under Regulation 4 shall receive <strong>the</strong> same stipend as a<br />

<strong>University</strong> Lecturer.<br />

6. When an appointment <strong>of</strong> a Gorley Putt Lecturer has been made ei<strong>the</strong>r under Regulation 3 or<br />

under Regulation 4, <strong>the</strong> Managers shall inform <strong>the</strong> governing body <strong>of</strong> Christ’s College. If <strong>the</strong> Lecturer<br />

is ei<strong>the</strong>r elected to a Fellowship <strong>of</strong> Christ’s College or appointed to some o<strong>the</strong>r position in <strong>the</strong> College,<br />

<strong>the</strong>re shall be paid to <strong>the</strong> College from <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund such annual sum during <strong>the</strong> tenure <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Lecturer as shall be agreed between <strong>the</strong> governing body <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> College and <strong>the</strong> General Board, to<br />

meet <strong>the</strong> cost <strong>of</strong> maintaining <strong>the</strong> Fellowship or o<strong>the</strong>r post, as <strong>the</strong> case may be.<br />

QUALCOMM EUROPEAN RESEARCH STUDENTSHIP FUND IN TECHNOLOGY<br />

Grace 2 <strong>of</strong> 25 February 2009<br />

1. The sum received from an allocation by <strong>the</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cambridge</strong> in America, representing a<br />

donation from Qualcomm Inc, shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Qualcomm European Research Studentship<br />

Fund in Technology. The purpose <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> support <strong>of</strong> doctoral research students <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Computer Laboratory, Judge Business School, and <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Engineering, who are citizens <strong>of</strong><br />

countries in <strong>the</strong> European Union. The term <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be from 28 February 2009 to<br />

28 February 2019.<br />

2. The Fund shall be managed by <strong>the</strong> Council <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> School <strong>of</strong> Technology, who may delegate any<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir functions concerning <strong>the</strong> Fund to a Committee not necessarily composed wholly <strong>of</strong> members<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Council <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> School.<br />

3. The capital and <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be applied by <strong>the</strong> Managers to provide financial<br />

support to doctoral research students <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Computer Laboratory, Judge Business School, and <strong>the</strong><br />
