2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> English, who may delegate any or all<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir functions under <strong>the</strong>se regulations to a committee not necessarily consisting wholly <strong>of</strong> members<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Board.<br />

3. The first charge on <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be to provide <strong>the</strong> stipend and employers’ pension<br />

and national insurance contributions <strong>of</strong> a Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> or Reader or <strong>University</strong> Senior Lecturer or<br />

<strong>University</strong> Lecturer in Poetry and Drama in <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> English. The second charge on <strong>the</strong> income<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be to provide for one or more lectures in drama or poetry which shall be entitled <strong>the</strong><br />

Judith E. Wilson Lectures on Drama and Poetry. The third charge on <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be<br />

to support activities associated with <strong>the</strong> drama studio in <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> English. The Managers may at<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir discretion pay any expenses incurred in <strong>the</strong> administration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund or in connection with <strong>the</strong><br />

Lectures.<br />

4. The Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> or Reader or <strong>University</strong> Senior Lecturer or <strong>University</strong> Lecturer in Poetry and<br />

Drama shall perform <strong>the</strong> duties appropriate to <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice as defined in <strong>the</strong> Statutes and Ordinances <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>, and in particular shall encourage <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong> drama and poetry with emphasis on<br />

contemporary dramatic works.<br />

5. A Judith E. Wilson Lecturer shall be some distinguished exponent <strong>of</strong> poetry or drama (including<br />

poets, dramatists, actors, or directors) appointed by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> English. The lectures shall<br />

be given at a time and place to be announced by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> English and shall be open<br />

without fee to all persons interested.<br />

6. A Judith E. Wilson Lecturer shall receive an honorarium <strong>of</strong> such sum as shall be approved by<br />

<strong>the</strong> General Board on <strong>the</strong> recommendation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> English and reimbursement in<br />

respect <strong>of</strong> such travelling and subsistence expenses as may be approved by <strong>the</strong> General Board on <strong>the</strong><br />

recommendation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> English.<br />

7. After provision has been made in accordance with Regulation 3, <strong>the</strong> remaining income and any<br />

unexpended income accumulated in <strong>the</strong> Fund may be applied from time to time, at <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> English and subject to such conditions as <strong>the</strong>y may think fit, for <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong><br />

fur<strong>the</strong>ring <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong> literature, especially <strong>of</strong> literature relating to drama and poetry, with particular<br />

emphasis on contemporary practices:<br />

(a) by <strong>the</strong> appointment <strong>of</strong> not more than two Judith E. Wilson Visiting Fellows in any academical<br />

year; such Fellowships may be held by any persons whom <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board consider suitably<br />

qualified, provided that<br />

(1) no <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficer shall be eligible for appointment;<br />

(2) no one who has held a Judith E. Wilson Visiting Fellowship shall be eligible for reappointment<br />

until a year has elapsed since <strong>the</strong> expiry <strong>of</strong> his or her previous tenure;<br />

(3) in any academical year if two Judith E. Wilson Visiting Fellowships are appointed one shall<br />

be in Drama and one in Poetry;<br />

(b) by any o<strong>the</strong>r means.<br />

8. The tenure <strong>of</strong> a Judith E. Wilson Visiting Fellowship shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board.<br />

WILSON-BARKWORTH FUND<br />

The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund derived from <strong>the</strong> bequest <strong>of</strong> Arthur Bromby Wilson-Barkworth, B.A., LL.D.,<br />

<strong>of</strong> Jesus College, accepted by <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> in 1929 by Grace 1 <strong>of</strong> 11 May 1929 and now known as<br />

<strong>the</strong> Wilson-Barkworth Fund, shall be applied at <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Library Syndicate for ‘<strong>the</strong> purchase<br />

<strong>of</strong> original manuscripts or copies <strong>the</strong>re<strong>of</strong> or any o<strong>the</strong>r documents or books which it may be desirable<br />

to acquire for <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> Library and particularly any manuscripts, documents, or books illustrating<br />

or bearing upon <strong>the</strong> local history <strong>of</strong> England and more especially <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> East Riding <strong>of</strong> Yorkshire’.<br />

1. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Wiltshire Fund shall be used to provide one or more annual prizes, to be<br />

called Wiltshire Prizes, for pr<strong>of</strong>iciency in <strong>the</strong> sciences <strong>of</strong> Geology and Mineralogy.<br />

2. The value <strong>of</strong> a Wiltshire Prize shall be <strong>the</strong> annual income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Wiltshire Fund.<br />
