elected to a Scholarship, shall have performed with credit in <strong>the</strong> examination. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> gratuity<br />

shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Electors, but it shall be less than <strong>the</strong> minimum <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> range approved by<br />

<strong>the</strong> Council in accordance with Regulation 5.<br />

8. Each Elector appointed by <strong>the</strong> General Board shall, if required to set papers for <strong>the</strong> examination,<br />

receive such fee as shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Asian and Middle Eastern Studies<br />

within a range approved from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Council.<br />

9. Any unexpended income accumulated in <strong>the</strong> Fund may be expended at <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Head<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Middle Eastern Studies, in consultation with and with <strong>the</strong> agreement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

teaching <strong>of</strong>ficers in Hebrew in <strong>the</strong> Department, in <strong>the</strong> promotion and encouragement <strong>of</strong> Hebrew studies.<br />

10. Notwithstanding <strong>the</strong> name <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se Scholarships, it shall be competent for <strong>the</strong> Electors to set<br />

simple passages for translation from Aramaic into English, toge<strong>the</strong>r with questions arising out <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

TYSON FUND<br />

1. The Tyson Fund shall be applied to <strong>the</strong> annual award <strong>of</strong> a medal to be called <strong>the</strong> Tyson Medal<br />

and to be accompanied by a prize in money, consisting <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> balance <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> net annual income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

fund for <strong>the</strong> year.<br />

2. The Medal shall be <strong>of</strong> bronze, and shall be awarded annually to that candidate for Part III <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Ma<strong>the</strong>matical Tripos who has in <strong>the</strong> judgement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Examiners shown <strong>the</strong> greatest distinction in<br />

Astronomy in that examination, provided that his or her work in this subject be <strong>of</strong> sufficient merit.<br />

3. It shall be in <strong>the</strong> power <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Examiners, if <strong>the</strong>y think fit, to award two or more Medals and to<br />

divide <strong>the</strong> Prize between two or more candidates.<br />

4. If in any year <strong>the</strong> Medal shall not be awarded, <strong>the</strong> income for that year shall be added to <strong>the</strong><br />

capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

UAC OF NIGERIA TRAVEL FUND<br />

1. The sum given to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by UAC <strong>of</strong> Nigeria plc shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> UAC <strong>of</strong><br />

Nigeria Travel Fund.<br />

2. The Fund shall be administered by <strong>the</strong> Committee <strong>of</strong> Management <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Centre <strong>of</strong> African<br />

Studies, who may delegate any <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir functions under <strong>the</strong>se regulations to a sub-committee not<br />

necessarily composed wholly <strong>of</strong> members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Committee.<br />

3. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be applied to provide grants to enable Graduate Students to visit<br />

African countries, especially Nigeria, for <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> study or research, or for o<strong>the</strong>r purposes<br />

approved by <strong>the</strong> Committee <strong>of</strong> Management.<br />

4. Any unexpended income shall be added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

UKRAINIAN STUDIES ENDOWMENT FUND<br />

Grace 2 <strong>of</strong> 3 November 2010<br />

1. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ukrainian Studies Endowment Fund shall be applied for <strong>the</strong> benefit <strong>of</strong> teaching<br />

and research in <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> Ukrainian Studies.<br />

2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Chairman <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Modern and Medieval<br />

Languages, <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Slavonic Studies, and one o<strong>the</strong>r person appointed by <strong>the</strong><br />

Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Modern and Medieval Languages in <strong>the</strong> Michaelmas Term to serve for five years<br />

from 1 January following her or his appointment provided that, if <strong>the</strong> Chairman <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board<br />

<strong>of</strong> Modern and Medieval Languages is an <strong>of</strong>ficer in <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Slavonic Studies, <strong>the</strong> Faculty<br />

Board shall instead appoint one additional Manager who is not in that Department. The Managers may<br />

co-opt up to two more Managers as required. Co-opted Managers shall serve until 31 December <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

year following that in which <strong>the</strong>y are co-opted.<br />

3. The first charge on <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> stipend, national insurance, pension<br />

contributions, and associated indirect costs <strong>of</strong> a <strong>University</strong> Lectureship in Ukrainian payable by <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>University</strong>; <strong>the</strong> second charge shall be <strong>the</strong> stipend, national insurance, pension contributions, and<br />
