3. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Award shall be <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund. The sum paid shall be spent on <strong>the</strong><br />

SURENDRANATH D ASGUPTA FUND<br />
1. The sum <strong>of</strong> £4,000 given to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by Mrs Surama Dasgupta in memory <strong>of</strong> her husband,<br />
Surendranath Dasgupta, shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Surendranath Dasgupta Fund, <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> which<br />
shall be used for <strong>the</strong> advancement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong> Indian philosophy in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />
2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Asian and Middle Eastern Studies who<br />
may delegate any <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir functions concerning <strong>the</strong> Fund to a Committee not necessarily consisting<br />
wholly <strong>of</strong> members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Board.<br />
3. The first charge on <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be to meet <strong>the</strong> payment <strong>of</strong> an honorarium to<br />
and <strong>the</strong> expenses <strong>of</strong> a Lecturer who shall be appointed from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Managers to deliver<br />
a course <strong>of</strong> at least three lectures, to be called <strong>the</strong> Surendranath Dasgupta Lectures, on Indian philosophy.<br />
The Managers may make a grant from <strong>the</strong> Fund towards <strong>the</strong> cost <strong>of</strong> publishing <strong>the</strong> lectures.<br />
4. After provision has been made in accordance with Regulation 3, any unexpended income<br />
accumulated in <strong>the</strong> Fund may be used at <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers for any o<strong>the</strong>r purpose in<br />
conformity with <strong>the</strong> purpose for which <strong>the</strong> Fund has been established.<br />

DAVIES-JONES MEMORIAL FUND<br />
1. The money received from six graduates <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> who were members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Teachers’<br />
Training College in 1901–04 shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Davies-Jones Memorial Fund. This Fund<br />
was established in 1930 in memory <strong>of</strong> J. L. Davies, M.A., <strong>of</strong> Emmanuel College, and R. A. Jones,<br />
M.A., <strong>of</strong> King’s College, who lost <strong>the</strong>ir lives in <strong>the</strong> War <strong>of</strong> 1914–18.<br />
2. The Fund shall be administered by <strong>the</strong> Loan Fund I Committee, and its capital shall be used to<br />
make loans, free <strong>of</strong> interest, to students who are graduates <strong>of</strong> this or <strong>of</strong> ano<strong>the</strong>r university and who are<br />
attending instruction in <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Education.<br />
3. Applications for loans are to be sent to <strong>the</strong> Registrary by Tutors <strong>of</strong> Colleges. Each application<br />
must be supported by a statement from <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Education.<br />
4. The recipient shall sign an undertaking to repay <strong>the</strong> loan. The Committee shall determine, and<br />
shall have power to relax, <strong>the</strong> conditions <strong>of</strong> repayment.<br />

HENRY ROY DEAN PRIZE<br />
1. The sums donated by <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficers in <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Pathology and o<strong>the</strong>rs shall<br />
form a fund for <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> awarding a Prize in clinical pathology.<br />
2. The title <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be <strong>the</strong> Henry Roy Dean Prize.<br />
3. The Prize shall be open to any member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> who is pursuing clinical study in<br />
<strong>Cambridge</strong> and has been entered as a candidate for Part I <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Final M.B. Examination.<br />
4. The Prize shall be awarded on <strong>the</strong> results <strong>of</strong> a special examination to be held annually, and<br />
conducted by <strong>the</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Pathology and two Adjudicators appointed by <strong>the</strong> General Board on <strong>the</strong><br />
nomination <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essor.<br />
5. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be such sum, not exceeding <strong>the</strong> available income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund, as<br />
may be determined by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Clinical Medicine within a range approved from time to<br />
time by <strong>the</strong> Council.<br />
6. The Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Pathology shall publish a Notice <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize giving <strong>the</strong> date <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> special<br />
examination and <strong>the</strong> last date by which entries shall be submitted, provided that such date for entries<br />
shall be not less than six weeks after <strong>the</strong> publication <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Notice.
