Civil Engineers Baker Prizes<br />

1. Two Institution <strong>of</strong> Civil Engineers Baker Prizes shall be awarded each year by <strong>the</strong> Examiners for<br />

Part IIA <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Engineering Tripos; one to each <strong>of</strong> two candidates who achieve distinction in any <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> fields falling within <strong>the</strong> examination.<br />

2. One Institution <strong>of</strong> Civil Engineers Baker Prize shall be awarded each year by <strong>the</strong> Examiners for<br />

Part IIB <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Engineering Tripos to a candidate who achieves distinction in any <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> fields falling<br />

within <strong>the</strong> examination.<br />

3. The value <strong>of</strong> each Prize shall be determined from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Engineering<br />

with <strong>the</strong> approval <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Council.<br />

B.R.D. CLARKE PRIZE<br />

1. The sums received from Mrs B. R. D. Clarke in memory <strong>of</strong> her husband, Bruce Robert Duncan<br />

Clarke (1924–1998), M.A., LL.M., <strong>of</strong> Trinity College, shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> B. R. D. Clarke<br />

Prize Fund.<br />

2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Law, who may delegate any or all <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong>ir functions under <strong>the</strong>se regulations to a committee consisting <strong>of</strong> not less than three persons, at least<br />

one <strong>of</strong> whom shall be a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board.<br />

3. The Prize shall be awarded annually by <strong>the</strong> Examiners for <strong>the</strong> LL.M. Examination for <strong>the</strong> best<br />

overall performance in that examination.<br />

4. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be such sum as shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Law,<br />

within a range approved from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Council.<br />

5. At <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board, any unexpended income in <strong>the</strong> Fund may be ei<strong>the</strong>r added<br />

to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund or accumulated for use as income in a subsequent year.<br />

DAVID L. CLARKE LECTURESHIP<br />

1. The sums subscribed in memory <strong>of</strong> David L. Clarke, formerly <strong>University</strong> Lecturer in Archaeology<br />

and Fellow <strong>of</strong> Peterhouse, shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> David L. Clarke Fund.<br />

2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be:<br />

(a) one person appointed by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Human, Social, and Political Science, who shall<br />

be Chairman;<br />

(b) one person appointed by <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Archaeology and Anthropology;<br />

(c) one person appointed by <strong>the</strong> Governing Body <strong>of</strong> Peterhouse.<br />

Each Manager shall be appointed in <strong>the</strong> Michaelmas Term to serve for four years from 1 January next<br />

following.<br />

3. A David L. Clarke Lecturer shall be appointed by <strong>the</strong> Managers in alternate years to hold <strong>of</strong>fice<br />

for two academical years. The duty <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lecturer shall be to deliver in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> on a day in<br />

Full Term, on a date approved by <strong>the</strong> Managers, one lecture on new developments related to <strong>the</strong><br />

method and <strong>the</strong>ories <strong>of</strong> archaeology.<br />

4. The honorarium to be paid to <strong>the</strong> Lecturer from <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be determined by<br />

<strong>the</strong> Managers within a range approved from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Council. In addition, <strong>the</strong> Managers<br />

may from <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund pay expenses incurred by <strong>the</strong> Lecturer.<br />

FACULTY OF CLASSICS A PPEAL FUND 2000<br />

1. The moneys donated and covenanted in response to <strong>the</strong> appeal held by <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Classics<br />

shall form a fund to be called <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Classics Appeal Fund 2000, <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> which shall<br />

be used to support <strong>the</strong> learning and teaching <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Greek and Latin languages in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> and<br />

<strong>the</strong> acquisition and development <strong>of</strong> resources for that purpose.<br />

2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Classics.<br />

3. Any unexpended income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund in a financial year may be ei<strong>the</strong>r added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Fund or accumulated for use as income in future years, as <strong>the</strong> Managers may determine.<br />

4. After provision has been made in accordance with Regulation 1, <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be<br />

applied from time to time, at <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers, to assist in any o<strong>the</strong>r way <strong>the</strong> promotion<br />

and encouragement <strong>of</strong> classical studies in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />
