2. The Fund shall be administered by two Managers, who shall be <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficers in <strong>the</strong> Faculty<br />
<strong>of</strong> Biology appointed by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board, one on <strong>the</strong> nomination <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong><br />
Genetics and one on <strong>the</strong> nomination <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Zoology. Managers shall be<br />
appointed in <strong>the</strong> Michaelmas Term to serve for two years from 1 January next following.<br />
3. Any person working in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>, who need not be a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>, shall be<br />
eligible to apply for a grant from <strong>the</strong> Fund to support <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong> entomology; provided that<br />
(a) preference shall be given to persons in statu pupillari,<br />
(b) preference shall be given to <strong>the</strong> support <strong>of</strong> studies in <strong>the</strong> field, especially in <strong>the</strong> United Kingdom,<br />
(c) no grant shall be made to any registered Graduate Student if it would support work directly<br />
connected with his or her approved course <strong>of</strong> study or research.<br />
4. In each Michaelmas Term <strong>the</strong> Managers shall announce <strong>the</strong> date or dates by which applications<br />
for grants from <strong>the</strong> Fund may be submitted.<br />
5. Any unexpended income shall not be added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund but shall be accumulated<br />
for use as income in subsequent years.<br />

BARTLETT FUND AND PRIZE<br />
1. The money given to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by <strong>the</strong> Applied Probability Trust shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong><br />
Bartlett Fund, in honour <strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Maurice Stevenson Bartlett, M.A., <strong>of</strong> Queens’ College, formerly<br />
<strong>University</strong> Lecturer in Ma<strong>the</strong>matics, for <strong>the</strong> encouragement <strong>of</strong> study and research in ma<strong>the</strong>matical<br />
statistics and applied probability.<br />
2. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be used to provide a prize called <strong>the</strong> Bartlett Prize, which shall be<br />
awarded each year by <strong>the</strong> Examiners for <strong>the</strong> examination in Ma<strong>the</strong>matics for <strong>the</strong> M.A.St. Degree and<br />
for Part III <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ma<strong>the</strong>matical Tripos to <strong>the</strong> candidate or candidates who have shown distinction in<br />
statistics in that examination.<br />
3. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be such sum from <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund as shall be determined by<br />
<strong>the</strong> Director <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Statistical Laboratory within a range approved from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Council.<br />

1. The Battie, Browne, Craven, Davies, Pitt, Porson, and Waddington Scholarships (<strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong><br />
Classical Scholarships) shall be divided into two groups, <strong>the</strong> first group consisting <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Craven, Pitt,<br />
and Waddington Scholarships, <strong>the</strong> second group consisting <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> rest.<br />
2. The Scholarships shall be awarded on <strong>the</strong> performance <strong>of</strong> candidates in <strong>the</strong> examination for Part<br />
IB <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Classical Tripos. No candidate shall be awarded a Scholarship unless he or she has achieved<br />
a first-class aggregate mark in <strong>the</strong> papers specified in Regulation 18 for <strong>the</strong> Classical Tripos.<br />
3. Each Scholarship shall be <strong>of</strong> such value as shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Classics<br />
within a range approved from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Council; provided that Scholarships in <strong>the</strong> first group<br />
shall be <strong>of</strong> greater value than those in <strong>the</strong> second group.<br />
4. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Battie, Browne, Davies, Pitt, Porson, and Waddington Funds shall be <strong>the</strong><br />
Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Classics, who shall have power to delegate any <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir functions concerning <strong>the</strong><br />
Funds to a Committee not necessarily consisting wholly <strong>of</strong> members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Board. The Managers shall<br />
determine before <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lent Term in each year what Scholarships are to be made available<br />
for award in that academical year. As far as possible, two Scholarships <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> first group (including<br />
one Craven Scholarship) and two Scholarships <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> second group shall be made available each year,<br />
as <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> relevant Funds allows.<br />
5. The Awarders for <strong>the</strong> Scholarships shall be <strong>the</strong> Examiners for Part IB <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Classical Tripos,<br />
who shall also act as Examiners and Awarders for <strong>the</strong> John Stewart <strong>of</strong> Rannoch Scholarships in Greek<br />
and Latin, and as Awarders for <strong>the</strong> Hallam Prize and <strong>the</strong> Henry Arthur Thomas Prizes. Each Awarder<br />
who is not a <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficer shall out <strong>of</strong> one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> several Scholarship Funds be paid such sum as<br />
shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Classics within a range approved from time to time by<br />
<strong>the</strong> Council.<br />
6. If two Scholarships are awarded in ei<strong>the</strong>r group, <strong>the</strong> names <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> award-winners shall be<br />
announced in order <strong>of</strong> merit and <strong>the</strong> Scholarships shall be assigned to <strong>the</strong>m in <strong>the</strong> order <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
