CUTHBERT PRIZE FOR HUMANITIES IN MEDICINE<br />

1. The sum <strong>of</strong> £5,383 donated to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by Susan Molyneux Warner and Andrew Calcutt<br />

in memory <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir fa<strong>the</strong>r Frederick Norton Cuthbert shall form a Fund for <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> awarding<br />

an annual prize for Humanities in Medicine.<br />

2. The Prize shall be called <strong>the</strong> Cuthbert Prize for Humanities in Medicine and shall be awarded<br />

annually for an essay <strong>of</strong> approximately 3,000 words on a subject in <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> interaction <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

interests <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> humanities with <strong>the</strong> concerns <strong>of</strong> Clinical Medicine.<br />

3. The Prize shall be open to any member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> who is pursuing clinical study in<br />

<strong>Cambridge</strong> and is a candidate for Part III <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Final M.B. Examination. Entries for <strong>the</strong> Prize must<br />

be submitted to <strong>the</strong> Director <strong>of</strong> Medical Education before 1 February each year.<br />

4. The Prize shall be awarded by two Adjudicators appointed by <strong>the</strong> General Board on <strong>the</strong> nomination<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Clinical Medicine.<br />

5. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund for <strong>the</strong> financial year in which <strong>the</strong> award<br />

is made.<br />

6. If in any year <strong>the</strong> Prize is not awarded, <strong>the</strong> unexpended income shall be added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

ROBERT D AGLISH FUND<br />

1. The bequest <strong>of</strong> Mrs Inna Daglish in memory <strong>of</strong> her husband Robert Cyril Daglish, M.A., <strong>of</strong> Jesus<br />

College, shall form a fund for <strong>the</strong> encouragement <strong>of</strong> Russian studies.<br />

2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Slavonic Studies (or a member<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Regent House appointed by <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department) as Chairman, and two members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

academic staff <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Slavonic Studies appointed by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Modern and<br />

Medieval Languages in <strong>the</strong> Michaelmas Term to serve for two years from 1 January following <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

appointment.<br />

3. From <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund, or from any unexpended income accumulated in <strong>the</strong> Fund, <strong>the</strong><br />

Managers may make grants or loans to undergraduate members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> to assist <strong>the</strong>m in<br />

travelling to or in Russia in connection with <strong>the</strong>ir studies in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />

DANCKWERTS-PERGAMON PRIZE<br />

1. The sum given to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by Mr Robert Maxwell, M.C., Chairman <strong>of</strong> Pergamon Press, on<br />

behalf <strong>of</strong> Chemical Engineering Science, for <strong>the</strong> encouragement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong> Chemical Engineering<br />

shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Danckwerts-Pergamon Fund, in commemoration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> late Peter Victor<br />

Danckwerts, G.C., M.A., formerly Fellow <strong>of</strong> Pembroke College and Shell Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Chemical<br />

Engineering.<br />

2. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be used to provide a prize called <strong>the</strong> Danckwerts-Pergamon Prize,<br />

which shall be awarded in <strong>the</strong> Lent Term each year by <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Chemical<br />

Engineering and Biotechnology to that person among <strong>the</strong> successful candidates for <strong>the</strong> Ph.D. Degree<br />

who in <strong>the</strong> judgement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department has presented <strong>the</strong> best dissertation on a subject<br />

connected with Chemical Engineering.<br />

3. Those students shall be eligible for <strong>the</strong> Prize who have been approved by <strong>the</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Graduate<br />

Studies for <strong>the</strong> award <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ph.D. Degree under <strong>the</strong> regulations for Graduate Students during <strong>the</strong><br />

preceding calendar year.<br />

4. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

GLYN DANIEL AWARD<br />

1. The gift <strong>of</strong> Mrs Ruth Daniel in memory <strong>of</strong> her husband Glyn Edmund Daniel, Litt.D., FBA,<br />

Fellow <strong>of</strong> St John’s College, Disney Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Archaeology, shall form a fund <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> which<br />

shall be used to provide an award called <strong>the</strong> Glyn Daniel Award in Archaeology.<br />

2. The Award shall be made each year before <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Long Vacation by <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Department <strong>of</strong> Archaeology and Anthropology or her or his deputy to a person who has achieved a<br />

distinguished performance in <strong>the</strong> subject Archaeology in Part IIB <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Archaeological and<br />

Fund and<br />
