held by <strong>the</strong> same person or if one or more <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se posts is vacant or its tenure has expired, <strong>the</strong> Faculty<br />

Board <strong>of</strong> Business and Management shall appoint one or more additional Managers so as to ensure<br />

that <strong>the</strong>re are three Managers.<br />

3. The capital and <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be available for <strong>the</strong> payment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> stipend, national<br />

insurance, pension contributions, and associated indirect costs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Sir Evelyn de Rothschild Pr<strong>of</strong>essor<br />

<strong>of</strong> Finance payable by <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> during <strong>the</strong> tenure <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essor.<br />

4. After provision has been made in accordance with Regulation 3, <strong>the</strong> capital and <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Fund shall be applied for <strong>the</strong> support <strong>of</strong> teaching or research in some aspect <strong>of</strong> Finance in such a<br />

manner as shall be approved by <strong>the</strong> General Board on <strong>the</strong> recommendation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers.<br />

5. In <strong>the</strong> event that <strong>the</strong>re is capital or income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund remaining after <strong>the</strong> expiry <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> tenure<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essor, <strong>the</strong> capital and income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be available for <strong>the</strong> purpose set out in<br />

Regulation 4.<br />

6. Any unexpended income in a financial year may in any one or more subsequent year be expended<br />

in accordance with Regulations 3 and 4.<br />

ARCHIBALD DENNY PRIZES<br />

1. Two Archibald Denny Prizes shall be awarded each year, one by <strong>the</strong> Examiners for Part IIA <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Engineering Tripos and one by <strong>the</strong> Examiners for Part IIB <strong>of</strong> that Tripos, to <strong>the</strong> candidates for<br />

those Parts who have shown <strong>the</strong> greatest distinction in <strong>the</strong> Theory <strong>of</strong> Structures.<br />

2. The value <strong>of</strong> each Prize shall be such sum not exceeding half <strong>the</strong> available income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Archibald Denny Fund as may be determined from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Engineering<br />

with <strong>the</strong> approval <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Council.<br />

3. The <strong>University</strong>, on <strong>the</strong> recommendation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Engineering, may amend <strong>the</strong>se<br />

regulations from time to time, provided that <strong>the</strong> Prizes shall always be called <strong>the</strong> Archibald Denny<br />

Prizes and shall always be devoted to <strong>the</strong> encouragement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Theory <strong>of</strong> Structures.<br />

Grace 2 <strong>of</strong> 11 November 2009<br />

1. The sums given and bequea<strong>the</strong>d to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by Mr Harry Desai, and o<strong>the</strong>r donations<br />

received for <strong>the</strong> same purpose, shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Harry Desai Fund, <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> which<br />

shall be used at least once a year to make one or more Harry Desai Research Awards to persons who<br />

are registered as candidates for <strong>the</strong> Ph.D. Degree with a preference for those engaged in research in<br />

teaching and education.<br />

2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Graduate Studies. The Managers may delegate<br />

any <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir functions concerning <strong>the</strong> Fund to a Committee composed <strong>of</strong> members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Board <strong>of</strong><br />

Graduate Studies.<br />

3. The Managers shall on each occasion when <strong>the</strong>y invite applications give not less than three<br />

months’ notice <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir intention to make an award.<br />

4. An award may be made to a person who has completed not less than four terms <strong>of</strong> research as<br />

a registered Graduate Student <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>, provided that he or she has shown a high aptitude for<br />

research and a devotion to study, and is in need <strong>of</strong> financial assistance.<br />

5. The value <strong>of</strong> each award shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Managers within a range approved from<br />

time to time by <strong>the</strong> Council.<br />

DIVINITY (GERMAN LANGUAGE)FUND<br />

1. The gift <strong>of</strong> an anonymous benefactor shall form a fund to be called <strong>the</strong> Divinity (German<br />

Language) Fund, for <strong>the</strong> encouragement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> German language by members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>University</strong> pursuing or intending to pursue in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> a course <strong>of</strong> study or research in Divinity.<br />

2. The Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Divinity shall be <strong>the</strong> Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund, and may appoint a committee,<br />

not necessarily consisting wholly <strong>of</strong> members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board, to perform any or all <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> duties<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers under <strong>the</strong>se regulations.<br />

3. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be used, and any unexpended income accumulated in <strong>the</strong> Fund<br />

may be used, at <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers, for <strong>the</strong> encouragement, by way <strong>of</strong> grants or o<strong>the</strong>rwise,
