who has shown <strong>the</strong> greatest distinction in that examination. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be determined<br />
by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Engineering within a range approved from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Council.<br />
3. After provision has been made for <strong>the</strong> Rex Moir Prize, <strong>the</strong> remaining income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall<br />
be used at <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Degree Committee for <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Engineering, and subject to such<br />
conditions as <strong>the</strong>y may think fit, for making grants to postgraduate students and Graduate Students <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Engineering.<br />
4. Applications for grants shall be sent to <strong>the</strong> Secretary <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Degree Committee for <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong><br />
Engineering so as to arrive on or before 1 July in each year. An applicant must<br />
(a) have obtained an Honours Degree in a university <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> United Kingdom or possess such o<strong>the</strong>r<br />
qualifications as may be approved by <strong>the</strong> Degree Committee,<br />
(b) be or become a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>,<br />
(c) forward with <strong>the</strong> application a full statement <strong>of</strong> his or her financial circumstances.<br />
5. Grants may be made for one, two, or three years, but no grant shall be tenable for more than<br />
three years in all.<br />
6. The names <strong>of</strong> students to whom grants have been awarded, but not <strong>the</strong> amounts <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> grants,<br />
shall be published each year. Grants shall be payable in <strong>the</strong> manner determined by <strong>the</strong> Degree<br />
Committee.<br />
7. If at any time <strong>the</strong> Degree Committee are satisfied that a student is not diligently carrying out his<br />
or her work <strong>the</strong>y shall have power to direct that any outstanding instalments <strong>of</strong> a grant shall be<br />
withheld.<br />

P. A. MOLTENO FUND<br />
1. The sum <strong>of</strong> £3,000 bequea<strong>the</strong>d to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by P. A. Molteno, M.A., LL.M., <strong>of</strong> Trinity<br />
College, shall constitute a fund called <strong>the</strong> P. A. Molteno Fund.<br />
2. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund in any year and any accumulated income shall be at <strong>the</strong> disposal <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Pathology for <strong>the</strong> purposes <strong>of</strong> research in Parasitology.<br />

MOND LABORATORY ENDOWMENT FUND<br />
The income from sums that were made available to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> to endow <strong>the</strong> Mond Laboratory<br />
shall be used to support research in <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Physics.<br />
MORDELL LECTURESHIP FUND<br />
1. The sum given to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Louis Joel Mordell, <strong>of</strong> St John’s College, and<br />
augmented by <strong>the</strong> gift <strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Paul Erdős, shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Mordell Lectureship Fund.<br />
The first charge on <strong>the</strong> fund shall be <strong>the</strong> honorarium <strong>of</strong> a Mordell Lecturer.<br />
2. Not later than <strong>the</strong> division <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lent Term in each year <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Ma<strong>the</strong>matics on<br />
<strong>the</strong> nomination <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Pure Ma<strong>the</strong>matics and Ma<strong>the</strong>matical Statistics shall<br />
ei<strong>the</strong>r appoint a Lecturer to hold <strong>of</strong>fice for that academical year or defer <strong>the</strong> appointment until <strong>the</strong><br />
following academical year; provided that <strong>the</strong> appointment shall not be deferred for two successive<br />
years. Before nominating a Lecturer <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department shall take into account any name that<br />
may have been suggested by any member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Ma<strong>the</strong>matics.<br />
3. During his or her term <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>the</strong> Lecturer shall give one lecture in Full Term dealing with<br />
some aspect <strong>of</strong> or topic in pure ma<strong>the</strong>matics.<br />
4. The honorarium paid to <strong>the</strong> Lecturer shall be such sum as shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Faculty<br />
Board within a range approved from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Council. In addition <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board may<br />
at <strong>the</strong>ir discretion pay any expenses incurred by <strong>the</strong> Lecturer.<br />

MORIEN MORGAN PRIZE<br />
1. The gift <strong>of</strong> Lady Morgan, widow <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> late Sir Morien Morgan, FRS, Master <strong>of</strong> Downing<br />
College, shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Morien Morgan Fund.<br />
2. The Morien Morgan Prize shall be awarded each year by <strong>the</strong> Examiners for Part IIB <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Engineering Tripos to <strong>the</strong> candidate who has shown <strong>the</strong> greatest distinction in aeronautical engineering,<br />
Title <strong>of</strong> Fund.<br />
