MAYHEW PRIZE<br />

1. The Prize shall be called <strong>the</strong> Mayhew Prize. It shall be awarded annually and shall consist <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

net annual income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

2. The Prize shall be awarded to that candidate for Part III <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ma<strong>the</strong>matical Tripos who has in<br />

<strong>the</strong> judgement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Examiners shown <strong>the</strong> greatest distinction in <strong>the</strong> subjects <strong>of</strong> Applied Ma<strong>the</strong>matics,<br />

excluding Astronomy, in that examination, provided that his or her work in <strong>the</strong>se subjects is <strong>of</strong> sufficient<br />

merit.<br />

3. If in any year <strong>the</strong> Prize be not awarded <strong>the</strong> income for that year shall be added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

J. E. O. MAYNE FUND<br />

1. The sum given to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> in 1969 by John Edwin Oakley Mayne, <strong>of</strong> Fitzwilliam College,<br />

shall form a fund, <strong>the</strong> object <strong>of</strong> which shall be to ensure <strong>the</strong> continuation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> work on metallic<br />

corrosion and in related fields which Ulick Richardson Evans, Sc.D., <strong>of</strong> King’s College, sometime<br />

Reader in <strong>the</strong> Science <strong>of</strong> Metallic Corrosion, initiated in 1921.<br />

2. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be applied as <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Materials Science<br />

and Metallurgy shall from time to time decide to fur<strong>the</strong>r teaching and research in <strong>the</strong> study and <strong>the</strong><br />

prevention <strong>of</strong> corrosion and oxidation <strong>of</strong> metals and in related fields, by one or more <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> following<br />

means:<br />

(a) establishing and maintaining any academic appointment,<br />

(b) establishing a studentship,<br />

(c) maintaining Graduate Students or research workers in <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Materials Science and<br />

Metallurgy,<br />

(d) purchasing apparatus and equipment,<br />

or by any o<strong>the</strong>r means consistent with <strong>the</strong> object <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

M.CHIR. DISTINCTION PRIZE<br />

1. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> fund provided by an anonymous donor shall be used to provide a prize called<br />

<strong>the</strong> M.Chir. Distinction Prize, which shall be awarded annually for a <strong>the</strong>sis in <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> surgery,<br />

ei<strong>the</strong>r clinical or in a relevant basic science, submitted in candidature for <strong>the</strong> M.Chir. Degree.<br />

2. The Prize shall be awarded by <strong>the</strong> Regius Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Physic, after consulting <strong>the</strong> M.Chir.<br />

Committee.<br />

3. Any <strong>the</strong>sis deemed to have reached Distinction standard shall be eligible for consideration for<br />

<strong>the</strong> Prize. If more than one candidate reaches this standard <strong>the</strong> Prize may be divided.<br />

4. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be <strong>the</strong> annual income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

5. If in any year <strong>the</strong> Prize is not awarded, <strong>the</strong> unexpended income shall be added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

ETHEL MEASURES FELLOWSHIP IN VETERINARY MEDICINE FUND<br />

1. The sum <strong>of</strong> £220,000 given to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by <strong>the</strong> Trustees <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> J. F. and E. A. Measures<br />

Charity shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> E<strong>the</strong>l Measures Fellowship in Veterinary Medicine Fund.<br />

2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Chairman <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Veterinary Medicine,<br />

<strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Veterinary Medicine, and <strong>the</strong> Dean <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Veterinary School, <strong>the</strong><br />

Director <strong>of</strong> Research in <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Veterinary Medicine, and <strong>the</strong> Hospital Superintendent in<br />

<strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Veterinary Medicine.<br />

3. No resolution <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers shall be valid unless passed by a majority <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers present<br />

at a meeting to which all <strong>the</strong> Managers have been summoned.<br />

4. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be used to provide <strong>the</strong> whole or part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> stipend <strong>of</strong> an E<strong>the</strong>l<br />

Measures Fellow in Veterinary Medicine who shall undertake advanced study or research in such
