2. In order to be eligible for <strong>the</strong> Studentship, a candidate must have been admitted, or be seeking<br />
admission, as a student taking <strong>the</strong> Certificate <strong>of</strong> Advanced Study in Ma<strong>the</strong>matics or as a student<br />
studying towards <strong>the</strong> Ph.D. Degree in <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>oretical physics, within <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Applied<br />
Ma<strong>the</strong>matics and Theoretical Physics.<br />
Eligibility.<br />
DESMOND HAWKINS AWARD<br />
1. The sum given to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by Thomas Desmond Hawkins, M.A., FRCP, FRCR, <strong>of</strong> St<br />
John’s College, formerly Clinical Dean <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> School <strong>of</strong> Clinical Medicine, shall form a fund <strong>the</strong><br />
income <strong>of</strong> which shall be used to provide an award called <strong>the</strong> Desmond Hawkins Award. The purpose<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Award shall be to assist students in financing a period <strong>of</strong> elective medical study abroad.<br />
2. The Award shall be open to any member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> who is pursuing clinical studies in<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />
3. In <strong>the</strong> Michaelmas Term <strong>of</strong> each year, <strong>the</strong> Director <strong>of</strong> Medical Education shall publish a Notice<br />
giving <strong>the</strong> date by which, and <strong>the</strong> manner in which, applications are to be submitted.<br />
4. The Awarders shall be <strong>the</strong> Director and <strong>the</strong> Associate Dean. In making <strong>the</strong>ir decision, <strong>the</strong><br />
Awarders shall have regard to <strong>the</strong> academic record <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> candidates, <strong>the</strong>ir contribution to extracurricular<br />
activities in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> generally, in <strong>the</strong> Clinical School, or in <strong>the</strong>ir College, and <strong>the</strong><br />
nature <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> proposed study. Preference shall be given to those who propose to study in a developing<br />
country.<br />
5. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Award shall be <strong>the</strong> annual income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />
6. If in any year no award is made, <strong>the</strong> income for that year shall be added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

1. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> money subscribed in 1865 and 1867 for <strong>the</strong> encouragement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong><br />
Hebrew in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> shall be used to provide prizes, which shall be awarded by <strong>the</strong> Examiners<br />
for <strong>the</strong> Theological and Religious Studies Tripos and <strong>the</strong> Advanced Diploma in Theology and Religious<br />
Studies, and by <strong>the</strong> Examiners in Theology and Religious Studies for <strong>the</strong> M.Phil. Degree.<br />
2. There shall be open for award annually one or more prizes to candidates for Parts IIA and IIB <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> Theological and Religious Studies Tripos, and <strong>the</strong> Examination for <strong>the</strong> Advanced Diploma in<br />
Theology and Religious Studies, and one or more prizes to candidates for <strong>the</strong> Examination in Theology<br />
and Religious Studies for <strong>the</strong> M.Phil. Degree who acquit <strong>the</strong>mselves with distinction in <strong>the</strong> Hebrew<br />
linguistic papers in those examinations.<br />
3. The value <strong>of</strong> a Prize shall be such sum not exceeding <strong>the</strong> available income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund as may<br />
be determined from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Divinity with <strong>the</strong> approval <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Council.<br />

MARGOT HEINEMANN PRIZE<br />
1. The sums subscribed in memory <strong>of</strong> Miss Margot Claire Heinemann, formerly Fellow <strong>of</strong> New<br />
Hall, shall form a Fund called <strong>the</strong> Margot Heinemann Fund.<br />
2. There shall be a Prize, called <strong>the</strong> Margot Heinemann Prize, which shall be awarded annually by<br />
<strong>the</strong> Examiners for Part I <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> English Tripos for an outstanding performance in Paper 5 (Shakespeare)<br />
in that examination.<br />
3. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be <strong>the</strong> annual income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund. If in any year <strong>the</strong> Prize is not<br />
awarded, <strong>the</strong> unexpended income for that year shall be added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

HEITLAND FUND<br />
One-third <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> residue <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> estate <strong>of</strong> William Emerton Heitland, M.A., <strong>of</strong> St John’s College, shall<br />
form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Heitland Fund, <strong>the</strong> capital and income <strong>of</strong> which shall be applied for such<br />
purposes in connection with <strong>the</strong> Fitzwilliam Museum as <strong>the</strong> Fitzwilliam Museum Syndicate shall in<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir absolute discretion think fit.
