990 TRUST EMOLUMENTS<br />

Managers.<br />

Purpose.<br />

2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Law, who may delegate any or all <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong>ir functions under <strong>the</strong>se regulations to a committee consisting <strong>of</strong> not less than three persons, at least<br />

one <strong>of</strong> whom shall be a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board.<br />

3. The Managers may apply <strong>the</strong> income and capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund for <strong>the</strong> following purposes:<br />

(a) to support <strong>the</strong> teaching and research <strong>of</strong> Public Law in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cambridge</strong>;<br />

(b) to support travel costs and o<strong>the</strong>r exceptional academic expenses by graduate students in <strong>the</strong><br />

Faculty <strong>of</strong> Law;<br />

(c) to purchase books or o<strong>the</strong>r materials for <strong>the</strong> Squire Law Library;<br />

(d) to make grants or payments related to any o<strong>the</strong>r educational or academic purpose <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty<br />

<strong>of</strong> Law, and to attach to <strong>the</strong> award <strong>of</strong> any such grant or payment such conditions as <strong>the</strong>y may<br />

think fit.<br />

GEORGE WILLIAMS PRIZE<br />

Endowments, 1904, p. 418<br />

1. A George Williams Prize shall be <strong>of</strong>fered each year for an essay on some subject, proposed by<br />

<strong>the</strong> candidate and approved by <strong>the</strong> Adjudicators, connected with liturgical study. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize<br />

shall be such sum as shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Divinity within a range approved<br />

from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Council.<br />

2. Any member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> may be a candidate for <strong>the</strong> Prize provided that at <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

examination<br />

(a) he or she has kept five terms,<br />

(b) if a graduate, he or she is <strong>of</strong> not more than ten years’ standing from admission to a first degree,<br />

whe<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> this or ano<strong>the</strong>r university;<br />

and provided also that no previous winner <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize shall again be eligible as a candidate.<br />

3. The Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Divinity shall appoint as Adjudicators not more than three nor less than<br />

two members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Senate one <strong>of</strong> whom shall be a Pr<strong>of</strong>essor chosen from among <strong>the</strong> three Pr<strong>of</strong>essors<br />

<strong>of</strong> Divinity and <strong>the</strong> Dixie Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Ecclesiastical History. The Adjudicators shall be appointed in<br />

<strong>the</strong> Michaelmas Term to serve for eighteen months from 1 January following <strong>the</strong>ir appointment. Except<br />

in a year in which no essay is submitted each Adjudicator shall receive from <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund<br />

such sum as shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Divinity within a range approved from time<br />

to time by <strong>the</strong> Council.<br />

4. Each candidate shall submit <strong>the</strong> proposed subject <strong>of</strong> his or her essay to <strong>the</strong> Registrary not later<br />

than 1 February. The Registrary shall communicate <strong>the</strong> subject to <strong>the</strong> Adjudicators, and shall inform<br />

<strong>the</strong> candidate by <strong>the</strong> last day <strong>of</strong> Full Lent Term <strong>of</strong> its approval or rejection by <strong>the</strong>m. Candidates shall<br />

send <strong>the</strong>ir essays to <strong>the</strong> Registrary so as to arrive not later than 19 December.<br />

5. The prize-winner shall deposit a printed or typewritten copy <strong>of</strong> his or her essay in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong><br />

Library.<br />

6. Any unexpended income accumulated in <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be transferred to <strong>the</strong> Theological Studies<br />

Fund in accordance with <strong>the</strong> provisions <strong>of</strong> Statute E, XXX, 9.<br />

GLANVILLE WILLIAMS PRIZE<br />

1. The sum received from Mrs Lorna Williams and Dr Rendel Williams in memory <strong>of</strong> Glanville<br />

Llewelyn Williams, LL.D., (Hon.) Litt.D., Honorary Fellow <strong>of</strong> Jesus College and Emeritus Rouse Ball<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> English Law, shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Glanville Williams Fund, <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> which<br />

shall be used to provide a Glanville Williams Prize for Criminal Law.<br />

2. The Prize shall be awarded by <strong>the</strong> Examiners for Part IA or Part II <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Law Tripos for<br />

distinction in Criminal Law shown by performance in Paper 3 in that examination.<br />

3. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be such sum as shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Law<br />

within a range approved from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Council.<br />

4. Any unexpended income in a financial year shall be added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund.
