Zoology. In making awards <strong>the</strong> Managers shall give preference (a) to women graduates, and (b) to<br />
persons intending to carry out research in waters o<strong>the</strong>r than those surrounding <strong>the</strong> British Isles.<br />

WALTER MYERS FUND<br />
The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> fund derived from <strong>the</strong> gift to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Mrs S. Churchill in memory <strong>of</strong> her<br />
bro<strong>the</strong>r Dr Walter Myers, M.A., M.B., B.Chir., <strong>of</strong> Gonville and Caius College, and now known as <strong>the</strong><br />
Walter Myers Fund, shall be used to support <strong>the</strong> library <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Pathology as <strong>the</strong> Head<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Pathology shall determine.<br />

W. P. NAPIER FUND<br />
1. The money received from <strong>the</strong> bequest <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> late Walter Percy Napier shall constitute a fund,<br />
called <strong>the</strong> W. P. Napier Fund, for <strong>the</strong> endowment <strong>of</strong> teaching and research in <strong>the</strong> Cavendish Laboratory.<br />
2. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be applied as <strong>the</strong> Cavendish Pr<strong>of</strong>essor may from time to time<br />
decide:<br />
(a) in defraying <strong>the</strong> expenses <strong>of</strong> small scientific conferences to be held in <strong>the</strong> Cavendish Laboratory<br />
and <strong>the</strong> expenses <strong>of</strong> persons working in <strong>the</strong> Cavendish Laboratory attending similar conferences<br />
outside <strong>Cambridge</strong>;<br />
(b) in making grants to necessitous Graduate Students in <strong>the</strong> Cavendish Laboratory;<br />
(c) in providing apparatus and books for <strong>the</strong> fur<strong>the</strong>rance <strong>of</strong> teaching and research in <strong>the</strong> Cavendish<br />
Laboratory.<br />
3. Unexpended income shall not be added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund but shall be accumulated for<br />
use as income in subsequent years.<br />

NAPIER SHAW FUND<br />
1. The money received from <strong>the</strong> bequest <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> late Sir William Napier Shaw shall constitute a fund<br />
called <strong>the</strong> Napier Shaw Fund for <strong>the</strong> endowment <strong>of</strong> teaching and research in Meteorological Physics<br />
in <strong>the</strong> Cavendish Laboratory.<br />
2. The first charge on <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> cost <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> upkeep <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Napier Shaw Library.<br />
3. After provision has been made for <strong>the</strong> upkeep <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Napier Shaw Library in accordance with<br />
Regulation 2 <strong>the</strong> remaining income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be applied as <strong>the</strong> Cavendish Pr<strong>of</strong>essor may from<br />
time to time decide:<br />
(a) in making grants to necessitous Graduate Students working on meteorology in <strong>the</strong> Cavendish<br />
Laboratory;<br />
(b) in defraying <strong>the</strong> expenses <strong>of</strong> small meteorological conferences to be held in <strong>the</strong> Cavendish<br />
Laboratory and <strong>the</strong> expenses <strong>of</strong> persons working in <strong>the</strong> Cavendish Laboratory attending similar<br />
conferences outside <strong>Cambridge</strong>;<br />
(c) for <strong>the</strong> fur<strong>the</strong>rance <strong>of</strong> teaching and research in Meteorological Physics in <strong>the</strong> Cavendish<br />

SIR GEORGE NELSON PRIZE IN APPLIED MECHANICS<br />
1. The gift <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> English Electric Company Limited shall form a fund <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> which shall<br />
be used to provide a prize to be called <strong>the</strong> Sir George Nelson Prize in Applied Mechanics.<br />
2. Subject to <strong>the</strong> provisions <strong>of</strong> Regulation 3 <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be awarded annually by <strong>the</strong> Examiners<br />
for Part IIB <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Engineering Tripos to <strong>the</strong> candidate who has shown <strong>the</strong> greatest distinction in<br />
Applied Mechanics in that examination.<br />
3. If in any year no candidate be deemed worthy <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize <strong>the</strong> income for that year shall be<br />
added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund.
