THE MATHWORKS STUDENTSHIP<br />
1. The sums received from The MathWorks shall form a fund for <strong>the</strong> benefit <strong>of</strong> postgraduate students<br />
in <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Engineering undertaking research in Control Systems and related areas.<br />
2. The capital and income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> fund shall be used for <strong>the</strong> provision <strong>of</strong> a Studentship to be called<br />
The MathWorks Studentship in Engineering.<br />
3. The Electors to <strong>the</strong> Studentship shall be <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Engineering and two<br />
members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> staff <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Control Research Group in <strong>the</strong> Department, who shall be appointed by <strong>the</strong><br />
Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Engineering in <strong>the</strong> Michaelmas Term to serve for four years from 1 January following<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir appointment.<br />
4. In order to be eligible for <strong>the</strong> Studentship a candidate must have been admitted, or be seeking<br />
admission, as a registered Graduate Student in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />
5. The Studentship shall be tenable for one year in <strong>the</strong> first instance, and may be renewed by <strong>the</strong><br />
Electors for a second or third year but for no longer.<br />
6. The Studentship shall provide<br />
(a) a maintenance payment to be determined by <strong>the</strong> Electors,<br />
(b) a payment to meet <strong>the</strong> Student’s <strong>University</strong> and College fees,<br />
(c) a contribution to o<strong>the</strong>r costs such as equipment, travel expenses, etc., according to <strong>the</strong> discretion<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Electors.<br />
MAVA FONDATION FUND FOR CONSERVATION L EADERSHIP<br />

Grace 3 <strong>of</strong> 5 November 2008<br />
1. The sum <strong>of</strong> £2.5m received by <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> from <strong>the</strong> MAVA Fondation pour la Protection de<br />
la Nature Fund shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> MAVA Fondation Fund for Conservation Leadership, <strong>the</strong><br />
income and capital <strong>of</strong> which shall be used to support postgraduate study in Conservation Leadership<br />
and learning and research in Conservation in general. The currency <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be eleven years<br />
from 1 October 2008 to 30 September 2019.<br />
2. The administration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be under <strong>the</strong> control <strong>of</strong> a Committee <strong>of</strong> Management<br />
consisting <strong>of</strong>:<br />
(a) <strong>the</strong> Miriam Rothschild Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Conservation Biology;<br />
(b) <strong>the</strong> Moran Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Conservation and Development;<br />
(c) <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Geography;<br />
(d) <strong>the</strong> person designated as Director <strong>of</strong> Research in Conservation Leadership;<br />
(e) one person who is not a resident member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> appointed by <strong>the</strong> General Board to<br />
represent <strong>the</strong> <strong>Cambridge</strong> Conservation Forum.<br />
The member in class (e) shall be appointed by <strong>the</strong> General Board in <strong>the</strong> Michaelmas Term to serve<br />
for three years from 1 January following her or his appointment.<br />
3. The capital and income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be used to support <strong>the</strong> design and delivery <strong>of</strong> a<br />
postgraduate course <strong>of</strong> study in Conservation Leadership, in any manner that <strong>the</strong> Managers shall<br />
determine, including <strong>the</strong> payment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> stipend, national insurance, pension contributions, and associated<br />
indirect costs payable by <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> in respect <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Director <strong>of</strong> Research in Conservation<br />
Leadership. It may also be used, at <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers, to provide maintenance payments<br />
and payments to meet <strong>University</strong> and College fees and o<strong>the</strong>r costs, such as additional training,<br />
equipment, travel expenses, conferences, for students undertaking <strong>the</strong> course.<br />
4. The MAVA Fondation may decide to apply any part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> capital or income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> donation<br />
that remains unspent, at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> programme, as <strong>the</strong> MAVA Fondation may determine, after<br />
agreement with <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>, to support <strong>the</strong> study and teaching <strong>of</strong> conservation in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> and<br />
to co-operate with outside bodies in <strong>the</strong> encouragement <strong>of</strong> conservation learning or research more<br />
generally.<br />

CLERK MAXWELL MEMORIAL FUND<br />
1. The moneys received from Miss Frances Ka<strong>the</strong>rine Dunn shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Clerk<br />
Maxwell Memorial Fund, as a tribute to <strong>the</strong> memory <strong>of</strong> James Clerk Maxwell, <strong>the</strong> first Cavendish<br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Experimental Physics.
