Quorum.<br />

The Managers shall elect annually one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir number as Chairman. The Secretary <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty<br />

Board <strong>of</strong> Clinical Medicine shall act as Secretary to <strong>the</strong> Managers.<br />

3. The Managers may at <strong>the</strong>ir discretion make grants from <strong>the</strong> Fund to any person engaged in<br />

research in East Anglia which may, in <strong>the</strong> opinion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers, contribute to <strong>the</strong> prevention,<br />

diagnosis, or treatment <strong>of</strong> human cancer; and <strong>the</strong>y may attach to any grant such conditions as <strong>the</strong>y<br />

may think fit.<br />

4. The Managers shall be empowered to receive donations, subscriptions, and bequests for <strong>the</strong><br />

augmentation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

5. The Managers may at <strong>the</strong>ir discretion seek <strong>the</strong> advice <strong>of</strong> independent assessors concerning <strong>the</strong><br />

merits <strong>of</strong> any application to <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

6. No resolution <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers shall be valid unless approved by at least four members at a<br />

meeting to which all <strong>the</strong> members have been summoned, but a resolution signed by all <strong>the</strong> members<br />

shall have <strong>the</strong> same validity as a resolution carried at a meeting.<br />

MODERN HEBREW STUDIES FUND<br />

1. The sums received by <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> for <strong>the</strong> promotion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong> Modern Hebrew shall<br />

form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Modern Hebrew Studies Fund.<br />

2. The Fund shall be under <strong>the</strong> control <strong>of</strong> a Board <strong>of</strong> Managers, who shall be:<br />

(a) <strong>the</strong> Regius Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Hebrew;<br />

(b) two persons appointed by <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Middle Eastern Studies in consultation<br />

with and with <strong>the</strong> agreement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> teaching <strong>of</strong>ficers in Hebrew in <strong>the</strong> Department to serve for<br />

two years from 1 January following <strong>the</strong>ir appointment, one <strong>of</strong> whom shall be a <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficer<br />

engaged in teaching and research in Modern Hebrew.<br />

3. The capital and <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be applied at <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers for <strong>the</strong><br />

encouragement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong> Modern Hebrew in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />

4. Any unexpended income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund in a financial year may be ei<strong>the</strong>r added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Fund or accumulated for use as income in future years, as <strong>the</strong> Managers may determine.<br />

MODERN JEWISH STUDIES FUND<br />

1. The sum <strong>of</strong> $50,000 given to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by <strong>the</strong> Righteous Persons Foundation shall form a<br />

fund called <strong>the</strong> Modern Jewish Studies Fund, which shall be used for <strong>the</strong> promotion and encouragement<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong> modern Jewish thought and history in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />

2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Divinity, who may delegate any or all<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir functions under <strong>the</strong>se regulations to a committee not necessarily consisting wholly <strong>of</strong> members<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Board.<br />

3. The capital and <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be applied, at <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers,<br />

(a) to meet <strong>the</strong> cost <strong>of</strong> lectures given by visiting Lecturers;<br />

(b) to provide grants for Graduate Students working in <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> modern Jewish thought and<br />

history;<br />

(c) to assist in any o<strong>the</strong>r way <strong>the</strong> promotion and encouragement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong> modern Jewish<br />

thought and history in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />

4. A visiting Lecturer shall be appointed by <strong>the</strong> Managers from time to time. It shall be <strong>the</strong> duty <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Lecturer to deliver one or more lectures in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> in Full Term on a subject or subjects<br />

connected with modern Jewish thought and history.<br />

5. The stipend paid to a Lecturer shall be such sum as shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Managers within<br />

a range approved from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Council. In addition <strong>the</strong> Managers may at <strong>the</strong>ir discretion<br />

pay any expenses incurred by <strong>the</strong> Lecturer or in connection with <strong>the</strong> Lecturer’s visit.<br />

REX MOIR FUND<br />

1. The sums given and bequea<strong>the</strong>d to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by <strong>the</strong> late Sir Ernest Moir, Bart., shall form<br />

a fund called <strong>the</strong> Rex Moir Fund.<br />

2. The first charge on <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> provision <strong>of</strong> a Rex Moir Prize which<br />

shall be awarded annually by <strong>the</strong> Examiners for Part IB <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Engineering Tripos to <strong>the</strong> candidate
